I forgot to respond to one of your comments so I am posting this as
well.

I had wondered about the Child Catcher and the Baroness. They both
hate children right. Or is he just securing his job by being nice to
his boss. Of course the odd thing is the fact that the Baroness
hates children but adores her husband who couldn't be more child
like if he tried. I do wonder even more then the perplexing fact
that the Baron wants his sexy wife dead is what does she see in him?
Is it to secure her place in the kingdom? Before he sends her
through the trap door she sings "I only know I don't deserve
you"…..1st it is He that doesn't deserve her. She does notice that
he is trying to kill her but she just waves it off. Is she actually
scared to death of him and trying to be nice to keep herself alive
while trying to figure out how to get out of all this? No one
outside of the child catcher seems the least bit interested in her
or her well being. Hence why I think a much better ending is for
Dick Van Dyke to rescue her from her fate. Go open that cage at the
end of the movie pluck the beautiful women out, slam the door back
on the Baron, ditch the kids and the rather bitchy Truly get in
Chitty and join the mile high club as he peels back the layers of
his goreguos new women and slowly unlaces her corset to reveal her
perfect body and give her the attention she truly deserves.

Happily ever after don't you think?
