Actually, to put my two cents in, the way to make recognizable characters is
always to rely a bit on stereotypes and a bit on new unique traits. More so,
culture, race and other things that differentiate one person from another
have aaaaalways been used to define characters, not only in animation, but
in every film... and I've seen a couple of movies made entiely with african
american casts and belive me, those were filled with stereotypes, mostly
denigrating ones...

I agree, Roadwort. The more we talk about racism in trivial things, the more
it will last.
