Hey Mahesh.
Unfortunately most of the institutions teach just the
softwares and a whole lot of tools rather than conc on
the art of animation. This holds true for Maya
Academy(MAAC), Arena multimedia, digi..whatever.
My opinion might be wrong cause I did my classes over
2 years back. Things might or might not have changed.
You might try and practise on your own with the help
of learning materials like DVDs, free/paid online
help.
If you feel you'll do better under supervision than
try and locate some guys who actually work in
animation companies and teach part time. That
atmosphere is going to be more like home tuitions but
you'll learn more about the proffesional pipe line,
the way ani companies work etc.
If you are going to attend classes than DONT choose
classes on the presentation they give you. A lot of it
is NOT done by the students/ faculty as claimed. Try
and talk to former and current students discreetly.
See whether the instructors are really good. Ask them
for 2-3 free lectures where you just sit and check the
way the teacher is communicating with the students. And
when u do join up, join up for a particular teachers
skill, not looking at the advertisement banner of the
class.
Hope thsi helps
Amit
