The Competition Applications Have Started


Akbank Short Film Festival is organized to encourage the production of short
films which are followed by a large crowd of people, to give a chance for
showing these short films which are produced and consequently to reach the
filmgoers, to support and inform the new filmmakers who contributes to national
film industry, to introduce all kind of short films and short filmmakers whether
amateur or professional, to give an opportunity to filmgoers to watch the short
films come from different cultures, to build a platform with a view to discuss
short films, thus to contribute the formation of new creative ideas in cinema
industry, to provide an outstanding festival atmosphere with Akbank’s experience
and to form a film tradition which will be watched with pleasure by all film
lovers.


This year’s competition applications of Akbank Short Film Festival has
started. Akbank 3rd Short Film Festival will take place between 9 - 19 December
2006.

Festival’s competition part is national . This year, out of competition choice
for the different categories and countries, is formed. For being only in the
projection of the festival; application of animation and experimental categories
is also added next to the fiction and documentary categories. National and
international application for out of competition will be estimated together, and
there will be no limitation for topic and duration.

Conditions for Out of Competition

1 ) Applications for out of competition is formed for participation to the
festival program.

2) Applications for out of competition includes fiction, documentary,animation
and experimental categories.

3) Video or film formats and the films that have made in computer will be
accepted for the pre-selection.

4) Screening applications is open for the short film directors from all
countries.

5) Running time for out of competition is not limited.

6) Any short film sent in other formats except PAL system will not be viewed.

7) Films that have been produced after the date of June 2005 will be accepted
for the pre-selection. Being presented or awarded in another motion picture
event is not an obstacle.

8) Application forms are obtainable from Akbank Sanat or from the official web
site of the festival.

9) Akbank Sanat may be use the pre-selected films in its cultural activities
without commercial use.

10) Jury’s decision is absolute.

11) Selected films will be screened in the Festival Programme.

12) Whatever is used for shooting the film (35mm, 16mm, video, ...) a DVD copy
must be sent for the pre-selection.

13) The deadline for all applications is September 30th,2006 . Until the
deadline, the following should be sent to the contact address “Akbank Sanat” :
- Filled application form,
- One DVD copy of the film,
- At least two photos of the film,
- Director’s photo,
- a short autobiography of the director. (max. 50 words; Turkish and English).
- Synopsis of the film. (max. 50 words; Turkish and English)
- a CD, that includes the information about the film and the director.

14) The copies of Pre-selected films will be in miniDV format.

15) The Selection Committee will accept to screen a film with English
subtitles for all languages, except the original language is English. The films
which has English dialoges, have to send the dialoge text of the film.

16) Rules and regulations are made up by this sixteen (16) articles.
