I am posting this here because David is a HUGE Doctor Who fan. I also
thought there might be Doctor fans.

The Countdown Commences!
This past winter, over a beautiful weekend in February 2008,
Gallifrey Conventions presented Gallifrey One's Nineteenth Symphony:
Opus 2008... a festive occasion that marked the resurgent popularity
of Doctor Who fandom in North America. The continent's annual Doctor
Who extravaganza, Gallifrey 2008 was visited by a record 1080
attendees and guests -- nearly 270 more than the previous high in
2007.
And now... Gallifrey Conventions announces Gallifrey One: 20 To Life,
aka Gallifrey 2009, North America's twentieth annual Doctor Who and
science fiction media convention. Gallifrey 2009 will take place
February 13-15, 2009 at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott Hotel,
within sight of LAX International Airport (and accessible via free
shuttle from the airport!)
Guest invitations have already started going out and we will have
many announcements over the summer... you can expect Doctor Who
actors (both classic *and* new series), writers, production people,
science fiction celebrities and much, much more. And we've already
got a few to mention...
Our First Announced Guests
Gallifrey Conventions is delighted to welcome GRAEME HARPER to his
first-ever event in North America. Doctor Who Magazine has described
him as "the longest-serving crew member on Doctor Who," having
started as a production assistant on the Jon Pertwee serial "Colony
in Space" before directing such classic serials as "Warriors' Gate"
starring Tom Baker, "The Caves of Androzani" starring Peter Davison
(considered by some to be the best story of the classic series),
and "Revelation of the Daleks". His return to the Doctor Who genre in
2006 was much-heralded, beginning with series two's "Rise of the
Cybermen," "The Age of Steel," "Army of Ghosts" and the season
finale "Doomsday". He then returned during series three
for "42," "Utopia" and an uncredited director position on "Last of
the Time Lords". This current season, Harper directed the recently
aired "Planet of the Ood" as well as the forthcoming "The Unicorn and
the Wasp" and "Turn Left," as well as the final two episodes of the
year, ending with "Journey's End". He has also directed episodes
of "Doctor Who Confidential" and a two part story for the first
series of "The Sarah Jane Adventures", as well as dozens of drama and
comedy series in the UK. It's a great honor to welcome Graeme Harper
to America for Gallifrey 2009.
We are also pleased to welcome TOBY HADOKE. The popular writer, actor
and stand-up comedian is well known for his work on the Manchester
comedy circuit, where he performs regularly, as well as running the
multi award winning XS Malarkey comedy club. Hadoke became a familiar
name to Doctor Who fans when his first one-man show, Moths Ate My
Doctor Who Scarf, received critical and popular acclaim at the 2006
Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which went on tour in 2007 and 2008 across
the UK. Hadoke and Doctor Who stars Colin Baker and Louise Jameson
appeared in the full-cast adaptation of "Moths" in May 2007, which
was broadcast on BBC7 and released by BBC Audiobooks. It is our great
pleasure to announce that Hadoke will be bringing "Moths Ate My
Doctor Who Scarf" to America for the very first time in a live
performance on our stage on Saturday night.
We are also pleased to welcome back JASON HAIGH-ELLERY, PAUL CORNELL
and JAMES MORAN. Cornell penned the third series episodes "Human
Nature" and "The Family of Blood". Haigh-Ellery is, of course, the
executive producer at Big Finish Productions. Moran's Doctor Who
story "The Fires of Pompeii" has just recently aired in the UK and
will soon be seen in America.
This is only the beginning! Gallifrey 2009 will feature Doctor Who
actors, writers and other guests which will be announced all year.
We've only just started sending out our invitations, so be on the
lookout for many guest announcements over the spring and summer of
2008.

Registering for Gallifrey 2009
Memberships to Gallifrey 2009 are now on sale. (An attendee purchases
a 'membership' to a fan run convention, not a ticket; you won't get a
ticket in the mail, only a member number.) As with many other
conventions, we operate on a sliding scale; the earlier you register,
the cheaper it is. Two other rates are fixed: $35 per weekend or $20
daily for children 12-16; children under 12 are free with parent
attending.
Should you have any questions, you can also contact us via email.
