please pardon the cross post...
The Delvaux Rendez-vous a Bray box set has arrived, and I have new-
found respect for the Boomerang label, which I'd found to be on the
cheap, given a few sub-stellar experiences. Anyway, the packaging is
splendid, and contains 2 DVDs, 1 CD, 1 novela and 1 booklet. The
included novela upon which the film is based is Le Roi Cophetua by
Julien Gracq, and runs 78 pages. There is a booklet, but it is split
between French and Dutch. But that's it's for the bad news for those
requiring English. The film looks super at glance, and is 16:9 even
though the box says 4:3. The feature disc is dual layer and the
bonus disc is single layer. The authoring on the disc is top-notch.
A really wonderful look and feel, and first up is a nice language
menu allowing for selections between French, Dutch and English.
There is an interview with Anna Karina on the main disc and more
minor extras, everything subbed. On the bonus disc, all the extras
are subbed. There is a featurette on Delvaux directed by Philippe
Reynaert, and three short works by Delvaux: Avec Dieric Bouts,
Moviola and 1001 Films. There is a CD containing music by Brahms,
Faure and Frederic Devreese, as well as dialogue extracts from the
film, which runs 36 minutes.
