Hi, this is just a shot in the dark really, for I have not a clue where to start
in all this; and I hardly ever read fiction let alone write it. But it would be
nice to hear some comments regard to how to go about getting agents or whatever
to read something and see if it is worth doing and if one has what it takes to
do it.
But a good many years ago a friend (deeply into psychology) asked me to write a
novel. I laughed and told them to get stuffed, not to put too fine a point on
it. But this woman kept on and driving me nuts in the process. So I took a few
days off and started one just to shut her up. I called it the Darsinian
Inheritance. (one can say stuff in fiction which is not fiction as you know). It
was/is a futuristic science/psychology/political fantasy novel.
Recently however I find that not only have I more time for such but also a touch
of motivation to do it came on the scene (no idea why); so I started to re-do it
and see how it goes. A number of acquaintances have read the first half dozen
chapters and say they really like it, but I take all that with a pinch of salt.
But it would be nice to see what those in the trade might think or what advice
they could at least give. Saw the list, and thought I would give it a try.
Actually it would make a damned good film too if ever I finished it. But it is
primarily a book for teenagers or young adults, to get the gits thinking outside
the box of conventions :- )))) I am not interested in making money or becoming
known, and it would definitely be done under a false name if ever it got that
far.
Suggestions would be welcome, even if only stuff like 'forget it chum' :- ))))
Dick.
