I'm a novelist who often writes about old Hollywood. I don't know what
influenced me most to do so - the book Hollywood Babylon or the movie
Sunset Blvd. My novel Hollywood Sinners is out now in paperback. It
takes place in 1939. A farm girl goes to Hollywood to be a star but
mostly just leaves it full of bullet holes and dead gangsters. Ha ha -
it's all very madcap with a bit of magic coming in from unexpected
places. It would make a great movie (I know, we all say that) with
Bette Midler playing the lesbian dance hall owner!
