RE: [WriteMovies] Update

After being a 2002 semi-finalist in the summer WriteMovies contest, it's been a
lot of up and down for me. I've managed to have a screenplay entitled "Black
River" optioned through May of this year, but shortly after the option happened,
it became apparent that the optioner had only one source to go to to get the
movie made, and when that source decided the script was too dark, that ride was
over.

I've also had three shorts that I wrote produced --- two of them based on
ideas by director Alex Ranarivelo, called "Morphin(e)" and "Central Booking",
and a third called "Pep Talk," based on a short story by writer William Browning
Spencer, and starring a friend from The Second City here in Chicago and directed
by Scott Smith, who was one of three director finalists for the last Project
Greenlight.

I've also written another screenplay with Scott Smith called "Ink," based on a
book entitled "Rumor Has It" by Charles Dickinson, that's found its way to
Steppenwolf Films whom we're meeting with on Friday to find out just what
they're willing to help us do with it. It may be something, it may be nothing,
only time will tell.

In April, a film entitled "Realization," which is a collaborative effort
between 7 writers (of which I was one) and 7 directors will premiere in Chicago.
I'm anxious to see the finished film, since I was not involved at all in the
production of it and have no idea how it turned out. More info is available at
www.splitpillow.com.

Finally, my wife and I have been working (and working and working) on a
documentary film called "Red, White & Blue: A Tale of Two Americas," which
everyone seems to love when they hear the idea, but no one wants to finance...so
it's been a painfully slow process. More info on that film is available at
www.redwhiteandbluemovie.com.

To sum up, it's been a slog...while it seems like I'm putting together some
solid material, it's been like pushing a train up a hill. In a word,
exhausting. And without any real financial reward to date. But what else can
you do?

If you want to know more about any of the film projects, I've put together a
basic website for them at http://www.ericbandersoncreative.com/ebafilms.htm.

Thanks,

Eric Anderson

It's part of selling and it's up to the writer or agent -- follow up, follow up, follow up. If you never hear back from them, that may be the kindest "no"...
