Re: [Tucson_Zombie_Walk] Re: Question to the group reguarding walk
I think the food bank is a better idea, anyway. The food banks have been especially burdened from the economic downturn. I can help with the food drive part. We need a big, obvious place to drop off the food. We have a van that we could park near the start point, and I can make a sign.
Cheers,
Nikki

I'd go with the food-bank thing again, but I'd maybe publicize that part more. Last year an awful lot of zombies didn't contribute any brains-- errr, I mean canned goods. Right! 'Canned goods'. Not brains at all, no matter what the labels said! #@_@#

Hi Fellow Zombies,
I would be interested in doing first aid again (although we may not need it, it's always a good idea to have someone). I totally agree about trying to get a parade route on 4th Ave. We got most of our response from there in 2007. I think the Epic would be a great place to end if we want an all-ages event. Or maybe the Historic Y around the corner? They host a lot of community events.
I tried to get a blood drive going last year, but the Red Cross dragged their feet about it. Do we want to try this again or keep the food bank idea? If we want to try to get the Red Cross, let me know so that we can start their slow wheels a-turnin'.
Cheers,

Hi, Frankie from The Mission Creeps here - We are definitely interested in being involved with the Zombie Walk again and are glad to help find a venue. Last time we were very bummed out about the limited access to the Congress patio. They suggested that next year (being this year) we get an outdoor stage set up and we'd have less age restrictions that way. If you are interested I can see if they are willing to do this for us. Also, Epic Cafe is very supportive of these types of events and it would be a blast to walk down 4th Ave. Then for those who want, there are options for later meetups at places like the Surly Wench. Let me know what I can do. And send me the potential date and I can help in investigating options. ~Miss Frankie Stein --- In Tucson_Zombie_

At any rate, while looking for a venue to host the walk at, someone brought up that maybe we should talk to the people at the Surly Wench and use them as a start and stop point. This may mean that the walk may not be all ages friendly anymore. So what do you guys think about this? Should we try asking the Surly wench people? Should we try somewehre else so we can keep it a family friend event? and if so, does anyone have any suggestions on where we can host the walk? > > > > Natalia >

I think that by having the wench, or any bar scene involved in the start/stop point, you might be inadvertently hurting the turnout as a whole. Maybe you could try something like starting and stopping at the Library, and then if people want to, have an after party at the bar. Parents will feel that its ok to bring smaller kids if the event starts somewhere precieved as "safe". and then the ones who want to zombie around a bit more and have a few drinks, can meet up at a specified place, be it the wench or where ever. > > remember, the love of zombies starts young, we dont want to exclude people who might be the next in line to carry the zombie walk torch. :) > >
