Hey Gang, This is Don checking in. I'm open for a meeting Saturday or Sunday. I think the Red Cross Blood Drive Idea is brilliant ! I'm open for chores my only restriction is that I'm working 9-5 Mon - Fri. Hope your all well.
Cheers Don

I like the idea of either a food bank drive or a Red Cross blood drive connected to the event. Not as sponsors per se, but it keeps the event in the public eye as a "good thing for a good cause", which makes dealing with permits and the cops a lot easier.
If people want to try for a Red Cross blood drive, I will volunteer to approach them. It might not be practical to have the actual blood drive on site, but a table where people would sign up/pledge might work. We could have it at the end of the march.
A food bank drive could involve having a table at the assembly area where people can drop off canned food. That's simple...put the stuff in a van and drop it off later at one of the food banks.
Just thinkin' out loud here.
Cheers,
Nikki

Alright so any suggestions of when we should do this? And do we want to get sponsors this year? And of course should we try and get Flan Chen to volunteer to preform for us this year?
I shall poke those who oppose me. the poking shall be swift the poking shall be annoying and I will show no mercy in all of my poking.

Okay so, lets think of of a good time for a volunteer meeting, and I can make fliers. I have Sundays/Mondays of so maybe a Sunday later this month? What day works bet for everyone?

Maybe we should set up a volunteer meeting and sign up for tasks? I can meet most Saturdays or Sundays.
First-aid wise, I think we should have about 3 "walkers" with cell phones along the march route with one table set up at the end with a cot. Mostly you will be dealing with blisters, maybe a sprained ankle, and dehydration (rare in the autumn, but children, drinkers, and diabetics can dehydrate quickly). Our job is to stabilize and create a central location for EMS pickup. We're too close to UMC to mess with anything heroic.
Cheers,
Nikki

So who is interested in making this happen this year? We have a lot of people subscribed to the list, so I'm hoping some of you are interested in helping with the walk this year.
