I recorded a documentary on D.W. Griffith that aired on PBS some years
ago as part of the "American Masters" series. The documentary doesn't
mention Carole Landis, although D.W. Griffith was the one that chose
her to play the cave girl in ONE MILLION BC. Very little was said about
that movie at all, although some accounts have said that Griffith
directed some of it, which would have been his last work as a director.
Some of the documentary was misleading, such as the repeated references
to Griffith as a "Southerner": actually he was from Kentucky, which was
not part of the Confederacy and is usually considered to be part of the
midwest, not the south. Abraham Lincoln was also from Kentucky
originally, something that was not mentioned in the documentary. - the
