LIFE Magazine Glamour Girl Comparison 1942   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #196 of 257 |
I just put a glamour girl comparison chart and accompanying photos from
LIFE magazine, Aug. 3, 1942 into a photo album. Many of the top glamour
girls of the day are there, including Lana Turner, Rita Hayworth, and
of course Carole Landis.
They used to lie about the glamour girl's measurements and I happen to
know that Hedy Lamour's bust measurement was less than her hips, most
of those girls actually would have had bust measurements that were less
than their hips, maybe Carole Landis was bigger in the bust than the
hips, but that was kind of unusual. I would consider the weights on the
chart to be suspect, too. Carole Landis probably should have weighed
more than she did when she was in the movies, they kept making her lose
weight and as I recall, it was mentioned in the Eric Gans biography
that one of the fans said at the time that she'd gotten too skinny. -
