For all those who wondered what some of the people discussed here
looked like, suggesting a relatively new book called "Jazz Age Beauties:
The lost collection of Ziegfeld Photographer Alfred Cheney Johnston" by
Richard Hudovernik. Published last October and costing about $40.00
new, it has a lot of exquisite photos of people from the Ziegfeld era
such as the Dolly Sisters, Marilyn Miller, Marcel Earle, Mae Murray,
the Gish sisters and even Mary Pickford.
A couple of provisos....If you are looking for Olive, you will be
disappointed. Only one pic that is easily seem in many other texts and
she is mentioned only briefly in passing in the forward.
Also for those with children, there are LOTS of nudes. Tasteful but
still nudes and some might not approve.
Still an interesting book for those who are fascinated with the
Ziegfeld Follies.
