It's great to see so many members still active here! I'm afraid I'm
guilty of a touch of neglect, for which I apologize. A good moderator
would have injected some life back into their club, but I've
shamefully let the place fall into disrepair, with characters getting
bogged down in dead threads left and right. With only a handful or
dedicated members here, we didn't have the numbers to simply bear
through it without intervention from the mods, which never came.
However, a suggestion was made some time ago which could have avoided
this quagmire, but was decided against by concensus. Perhaps now
might be a good time to raise the suggestion once again, and seeing
how our previous decision has so clearly let us down, try the other
road. It was a suggestion to move The Aurora Borealis to an Invision
or EZBoard style forum, such as
<a href="http://myth.salvajewolves.net/index.php?act=idx">Myth</a> or
<a href="http://www.salvajewolves.net/forum/index.php?act=idx">The
Wild Wolf Society</a>. This forum format allows for a character to
interact (thread) with more than one other, the roleplay is still in
chronological order, but scenes interlap rather than being forced to
run linearly from one onto the next in a direct progression. So if
Character A disappears, leaving Character B and Character C stranded,
those two characters can still carry on roleplaying rather than
having to break off their scene and move on. Acttive players can be
as active as they like, and inactive players can post as infrequently
as they like, with no negative consequences.
I think this would be an excellent idea, and Mandi herself once
initiated a move in this direction in the form of a character
database hosted with EZBoards. So let's hear your opinions; do you
think that Yahoo's Group format is hampering the game? Should we
invest in the more versatile forum format?
Kudos to Tracker, too, for her inspiring new club picture in
progress. Mike Davis is the detective's name, BTW. Congratulations on
the baby, Aussie! Ash, so sorry to hear you and Jason lost your jobs,
I really hope you can find ones now who are more worthy of having you
both. <=) Ara, good to see you're still here, too! Wonder if we can
drag Draiko back as well, plus the old guard, Sparf, Zeki, Zaal, etc.
Sparf's always supported this club and I'm certain he'll pitch in if
he's able. I can only apologize for my own absence and apathy, but
hopefully now, we're on the verge of a healthier, more active TAB.
