He felt the vodka burn like ice-fire as he swallowed. A moment later
the warmth spread through his body and extending out to his limbs.
His injury, a present from a wolf who's head was now mounted on his
wall, had begun to ache and the clear liquid often helped to ease it.
Tony had wanted to discuss their tactics over weeks and months, but
Philip had hunted wolves for to many years to need to talk about it.
So they had set off, just the two of them and a bag of equipment that
philip had kept close at all times. Philip had known they had entered
wolf territory when he found the markings and made sure that the wind
was blowing in their favour.
Philip hadn't told Tony, but he wanted the wolves to find them, but
only when he was good and ready for them to do so, now he wanted to be
unseen and to mark out the territory. It had become a game long ago
and Philip was very good at it.
"There is a wolf pelt in the bag, take it out and put it over your
shoulders." Philip whispered to Tony, putting his mouth close enough
to give Tony a whiff of the vodka Philip had just swallowed.
Philip checked to make sure that his gun was loaded, a loud gun, but
effective and by no means the only weapon in his arsenal. He fished
around in a pocket and pulled out a small pair of binoculars, the
lenses had to be smaller and required more light, but the glare fro
mthe snow was sufficient to make them work and the size was small
enough that they could be easily carried.
"There!" Philip whispered again passing the binoculars to Tony and
pointing.
Aranok had felt the human's presence within the packs conciousness and
was beside himself with anger. He felt his body shake. How could
Omara allow such a creature into the bond that held them together? He
did not doubt and would not ever doubt his ledrene, but....he just
didn't understand, these creatures were so untrustworthy, cruel and
betrayal seemed to be ingrained in their nature.
As he moved out of the dens he stretched his still aching muscles.
His injuries were healing, but they hurt. Merely more scars to add to
the collection, he guessed it was just the life of the pack guardian.
The breeze ruffled his fur and he took a breath to try and dispel the
lingeirng feeling of the humans intrusion into the pack bond.
"Would you look at him, he certainly looks the brute."
Philip had spied Aranok through the binoculars and wasn't sure he had
ever seen suc ha large wolf but he didn't want to let Tony know his
surprise at the size of the male so kept his exclamation muted.
