It had been many years since she had felt the emotions of a human and
his had been so full of childlike wonder that, remembering them now,
it made her smile. He had been as a cub, so inexperienced and so
desperate to find out more. She was sorry that Aranok had jolted John
and tinged his experience with fear, but perhaps the Human would have
a better understanding of her pack and of the fear that had festered
within the hearts of her kind towards a species they had once helped
bring down prey.
Once the connection was broken Omara remained silent, she listened to
John speak and even after he had spoken and silence had once more
fallen between the two, she remained quiet. Finally she let out a
breath she had not realised she'd been holding and nodded.
"Go help tend to your young; there is always time for another
conversation."
Omara watched as the injured mutt moved towards John, again Omara said
nothing, merely watched the others approach and the touch she gave
him. She nodded to Husky and without a word she turned and loped
away, once again favouring her leg which seemed to pain her this
morning. There was always time for another conversation
