OOC: Sterling work,
Zeki! Let's hope someone with a character at the vet's replies to you
soon. Kamakazie should be there, he was going to fetch Jerry to go and
pick up Cobalt. Hmm, is Ash still around? Jersey was showing her
character about, wasn't she? Maybe you could have Tav turn up and bug
someone at random. :-D
BIC: An
uncustomary pang of pity struck Thor's being at the girl's desperation,
his
thickly furred ears catching the human words and feeding them to parts
of the
canine mind which have grown and evolved alongside mankind for
thousands of
years, telling him what was wrong, how her own kind were turning their
backs on
her. The lass had family out in the cold, humans couldn't survive in
the cold
like the dogs could, what were they thinking, why wouldn't they try to
help
her?
"Silly
girl, don't worry about me," he gruffed in murmured tones, knowing it
was
his place as a dog to do what he could to comfort her. He glanced to
the others
in this section of kennels, Safari, the sled team here, Dragon; was he
the only
one going to try and help this poor human? She had
just ran in and grabbed him, but come on, the others weren't
just going to watch were they? Her clothes were damp, she was probably
freezing,
they'd have to make sure she didn't get hypothermia or wander by
herself. If
she left the kennel, Thor decided, he'd keep her company and make sure
she
didn't curl up in an alley instead of finding a nice, warm house to
sleep in.
The
copper and cream Husky whined and let the girl pet him, it seemed to
help
humans, stroking animals, and the sled dog moved his head up onto her
shoulder
as she knelt there, the warm fur of his neck sheltering the bare skin
of hers.
Why did they even live in these arctic reaches, with bodies like that?
Without
their clothes, their machines, boats and houses, how vulnerable they
were. And
to think the majority of the animal kingdom feared them, these fragile
gods.
Thor was starting to see how fragile their emotions were, too, and he
did
genuinely feel sorry for this poor girl. What could he do though? He
wasn't
Balto! He couldn't press out into the elements and magically rescue her
parents.
Could
he?
The
russet-marked canine considered the possibility as he leant his weight
against
the lass, whuffling softly by her ear and swishing his tail
sympathetically. It
wasn't as if he had any obligations here in town, Tony'd left him
cooped up
and, as far as Thor could tell, hadn't even come back yet. Safari was
at home
here, or perhaps might even want to help as well. The other dogs, well,
they
seemed a little less than responsive. He peered around the back of the
young
lady's head and woofed quietly to the jingley-harnessed bitch, "Safari,
lend a paw?"
