049 - Jackson, Jerry, Mike & Co. - Suspicions
OOC: Yes, yes, total rip from Wolf's Rain for the title, I admit it,
but it felt appropriate.
BIC: Detective Michael Davis turned back to the door of the surgery as
it opened, ready with his friendly nod to the elderly vet and his
professional smile; both of which melted into a look of concern at the
restrained but snarling animal in the centre of the room inside, and
the seeming plethora of canines surrounding it. He knew that the new
vet was slightly more... Eccentric than Lisa, and could forgive the
odd few instances of unexplained lupine healthcare, after all, if he
himself were a vet then he would probably show some kindness to
passing strays as well; but it would not be inaccurate to say that
Jerry at this point in time benefitted greatly by the fact that
Artanis was upstairs and out of the way. The policeman was reminded
briefly of the interrogation scenes from a few of the books he'd read,
but quickly dismissed the notion, Dr. Miller was a professional and
probably just had unusual but successful methods.
Pulling his interest away from the scene inside, Mike decided that it
would be best to interject in the conversation before this mysterious
Mr. Mathews provoked the good doctor into uncivil conduct. With a
brief but stern look at the trendy individual askance and at back of
him, indicating in no uncertain terms that he knew his business AND
his place and would conduct the investigation of the recent deaths in
accordance with his experience and police training, he returned his
eyes to Jerry and addressed him.
"Good afternoon, doctor, I can see that," he stated seriously,
"Perhaps you could tell me who owns him and how exactly he got those
injuries; but after I tell you something." Precisely how the
clandestine Mr. Mathews, a new inhabitant of Nome, knew about the
information he was about to divulge still puzzled him, there was more
to this man than met the eye, and his eye would be watching him from
now on...
"Another man has been killed. Throat torn out, dog tracks in the snow,
big by the looks of it though the snow had melted in and were trampled
by the couple that discovered the body," he relayed the details
without trimmings, the condition of the corpse, the manner of the
wounds, everything that might be useful to the town's leading dog
expert. "This is becoming serious, Jerry. Who's to say who the next
victim will be," the detective said, habitually using criminal
terminology even though the 'murders' were carried out by an animal,
"A woman, a child? I urge you again, if you have ANY information that
will help us to catch the dog responsible..." He glanced back into the
living room around the veterinarian's body, "Please, report it."
Taking a firmer stance, and glancing over his shoulder briefly again
at this Steven person, he continued to the vet. He hated to admit it,
but the herpetic individual did actually have a point, the snarling
dog inside didn't match up to any the detective had seen in the town
before, and for all he knew it might be an escapee of the dog fight he
only recently quashed. What was happening to his quiet, friendly town?
"Now, tell me about this animal, and any other strays you happened to
acquire within the last few days..."

OOC: Okay, Draiko, there ya go! Tracker: Rivan and Skyline are on the
porch right by all of this, feel free to join in. Sparf: Jerry
obviously is right there, Steele and a few of Andre's sled team are
inside around Jackson, too; giver permission for Draiko to carry on
playing Jerry if it's okay with you for him to do so, and if not then
post for him yourself. ^_^ Let's see if we can wedge the roleplaying
ball out of its little divot. :-)
