There has apparently been an agency in Austin that has absconded with
talent
pay. If you have signed with an agent but have NOT received money due
you
and can not reach your agent, please contact the Texas Department of
Licensing and Regulation at 512.463.6599. ALL licensed/bonded talent
agents
will have an insurance bond on file with the state of Texas. You MUST
have
documentation proving that an agent owes you money for a job. Make sure
you
keep all names, contact numbers, releases, all paper work that you've
gotten
on bookings, etc, on file.

If you receive work and compensation from any industry castings through
any
resource, please remember to pay agent fee to your agent (only if they
are licensed/bonded). They work for you whether you're making money for
them or not. You are never to pay commission to anyone who does NOT have
a license and bond with the state of Texas. This includes all managers
and talent agents who
are working under such titles but may not be registered with the state
as such. They are collecting illegally if they are not licensed.
Agents act as fiduciaries for actors and are regulated by each state
they work in. If you need to check on an agents listing with the
state, please refer to the website below:
http://www.license.state.tx.us/LicenseSearch/

Click on "Inquire by License Type"
Select "Talent Agents". This list will give you a complete list of
Talent Agents, what their license number is and when they expire. It is
not an alphabetical listing. Continue clicking on "Next" to access all
agencies.

Click on the website to verify a talent agency's license. They are not
in alphabetical order, but in numerical order of license number.
