3-15-03

e-mail to SAMM Members

Members who attended the meeting at Access Sacramento on 3-13-03 were joined by Val and Roger Hobin who performed so well in the ASwitch@ our earlier prizewinner. The newest script, AThe Session@ was helpfully critiqued and I have taken the suggestions and re-written the script which both Sue and I think makes it@ more of a comedy than a moral lesson. A The roles of Jane and Frances remain about the same, while that of Linda from the escort service  becomes more pivotal. Anyway, see what you think and comments or suggestions are most welcome. The Session is attached as a text document. If you have problems, let us know.

We were also treated to a Aslide show@ kind of presentation of Erick=s trip to a Video Magazine convention in Southern California last month. A further highlight, of all things, a fox hunt in rural Iowa. Baying hounds, red-coated riders and beautiful horses in action against the buccolic environs of the countryside, thanks to Erick=s shooting and editing skills, had our complete attention.

The club  presented Erick with twenty half-hour tapes along with white, windowed sleeves as thanks for his producing copies of A Night on the River. As the result of an article about the docu-drama we received a request for a copy from a social work instructor from Glendale Community College in the south. I immediately mailed her one.

I will try again to schedule Eric Leas for our April 10, 2003 meeting to be held at 7PM, Jamestown Room at Access Sacramento.

Erick Lorenz has agreed to direct AThe Session.@ We will publish the shooting schedules ASAP so all of you who can will be able to plan ahead and give us a hand.

THE SESSION
FADE IN:
INT: MORNING - FRIDAY - Breakfast nook in surburban home.
Two wives, Jane Morgan and Frances Morgan, neighbors who are
both married to identical twin brothers sit opposite one
another talking over cups of coffee.
JANE (VEHEMENTLY)
Ralph is just not interested in
sex any more. Just that one time
when he took the Viagra by
mistake..but after that...he
hardly even looks at the Swim Suit
Edition of Sports Illustrated. And
he flatly refuses to take Viagra.
FRANCES
You're lucky. Phil is a complete
opposite, as you know. I barely
satisfy him.
(pause)
That night he took Ralph's
sleeping pills by mistake was
heaven. The man is a dynamo. He's
back to running with Ralph every
morning.
Jane leans forward her face tense
JANE
I've got to know once and for all
if Ralph is even interested in
women. I've been dying to phone
one of those escort services and
ask them to send one of their
sexiest girls to the house when
I'm gone. I hear they'll do house
calls for sixty bucks... But I
just can't make myself do it.
FRANCES
Oh, Jane I'm so sorry you're
feeling so desperate.
2.
FRANCES (cont'd)
(pause)
If only the two brothers could
exchange their libidos ... You know,
so they'd both be reasonably sexy
but not to the extremes like they
are now.
JANE (TEARFULLY)
Oh, Frannie, I guess I'm asking
for a miracle.
(sobs)
I'm going crazy......
She quickly rises, then turning back to Frances.
JANE
I'm sorry to be crying all over
you're shoulder... putting all
this on you isn;t fair...I'm just
feeling so unhappy and desperate.
Her voice trails off and head down she leaves the room.
Frances, concerned follows her to the door. She returns to her
seat in the breakfast nook. She remains in that position for
a few moments and then her face lights up.
FRANCES
(speaking her
thoughts aloud)
Oh, my god, I can believe I'm
thinking what I'm thinking.
(pause)
Jane needs a miracle so why don't
I make one happen.
She picks up the yellow pages phone book and leafs through
the names listed under the heading Escort Sercices. Camera
looks over her shoulder as she searches. AD Lib: "Here's
one." She opens her cell phone and dials.
FRANCES
(continuing)
Hi, my name is Jane Morgan and I'd
like one of your girls to uh, uh,
get to know my husband, Ralph.
(pause)
Well, if you must know he's no
longer interested in sex. I have
the awful feeling it's my fault.
(pause)
I live at 2300 Frostbite Lane.
Came you come tomorrow, Saturday?
3.
FRANCES (cont'd)
And what time?
(pause)
What do you mean you can't
schedule a specific time.
(pause)
She'll show up sometime between
between nine and noon.
(pause)
Are you telling me you follow the
same business practices as the
telephone company and the
utilities... Oh, all right.
(pause)
Okay, I'll fax you a picture of
Ralph.
She closes the phone, frowning. To herself AD LIB: I've got
to take Jane shopping early next Saturday." Oh, yes and fax
one of Phil's old pictures.
EXT - THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY MORNING. IN FRONT OF RALPH
AND JANE'S HOUSE.
A pretty woman, wearing what she believes to be sexy
clothing, stands in front of the house searching for the
number. She seems to be having trouble locating it. As she
looks, a male runner in sweats trots behind her. He suddenly
stops and turns back.
PHIL
Hi, can I help you?
Th woman turns to him with a big smile. I'm looking for this
address. She starts to hand him a sheet of paper, then
following a glance at the photo in her hand, her smile widens
and she moves closer to Phil.
LINDA
Hi, I'm Linda and this is your
lucky day.
Her eyes light up as she looks several times at the photo and
then at Phil's face.
PHIL
What do you mean my lucky day?
LINDA (GIGGLING)
I could hardly believe it when
Angle, my boss, gave me
this.-er-.er assignment.
4.
PHIL
I'm still not following.
LINDA
Your wife didn't tell you?
He looks puzzled, shaking his head.
PHIL
Tell me what?
LINDA
I'm yours for this morning. We can
have sex as many times as you want.
Phil shakes his head, then suddenly smiles.
PHIL
I guess this is her way of saying
she doesn't think she satisfies
me.
(pause)
She's wrong. My wife's a wonderful
woman.
They stare at one another, each waiting for the other to act.
LINDA
Are we going to stand out here all
day?
Phil takes her arm and leads her up the steps to his house
next door from where Linda was standing.
LINDA
(continuing)
I guess I had the wrong house
number.
CU Phil is all smiles.
PHIL
You've got the right one now.
(pause)
That explains why she and Jane
went shopping so early today.
FADE OUT
FADE IN
INT - SAME DAY - LATER THAT MORNING - LIVING ROOM IN PHIL'S
HOUSE
5.
Phil, still dressed, faces Linda who is wearing only a black
bra and panties. He looks apologetic.
PHIL
(continuing)
I'm sorry, I just can't do this.
I love my wife.
LINDA
Don't let it bother you. All guys
go through this one time or
another. It would restore my faith
in human nature if more guys were
faithful to their wives.
PHIL
But I'm supposed to be a stud. I
make a lot of demands on Frances.
LINDA (STARTLED)
Your wife's name is Frances? So
what's your name?
PHIL
It's Phil.
LINDA (STARTLED)
Oh, lordy, I got the wrong house
and the wrong guy.
(angrily)
That's it for me! Somebody owes me
sixty bucks and. Buster, I hope
that's going to be you or I start
hollering rape.
Phil flushes, hurries from the room and a moment later doles
out sixty dollars to Linda. As an after thought he hands her
an extra ten. Linda smiles as she hurriedly puts on her
clothes and walks out the front door.
EXT: NOON - STARBUCKS COFFEE SHOP
Camera identifies the outside of a crowded Starbucks Coffee
Shop. Moving to a window it picks up Frances and Jane
drinking Latte seated at a table next to the window.
INT: NOON - COFFEE SHOP
Linda enters, moves to the counter, orders a coffee then
looks around for an empty seat. The only one available is
where Jane and Frances are sitting. She approaches the two
women and AD LIB asks: Do you mind if I join you. This is the
only seat left.
6.
They politely nod and Linda sits and then bestows a friendly
smile at the two of them. After eyeing the packages under the
table she speaks.
LINDA
Been shopping, I see. That's what
I should have been doing. You
wouldn't believe what happened to
me this morning.
The two women look at Linda and suddenly a CU of Frances
shows herlooking very uncomfortable.
LINDA
(continuing)
My boss sent me out to see this
guy, I forget his name, and then
this other guy, named Bill or
something invites me up and so
nothing whatsover happens. And
would you belive it I'm visiting
the wrong guy at the wrong house,
but it turns out okay 'cause he
pays me plus a tip.
CU of an anxious Frances who touches Janes shoulder and AD
LiB: says, "we should go." Jane shakes her head and AD LIB
says, "No, I want to hear this."
LINDA
(continuing)
Men, they're all big babies...and
I should know. The ones raring to
go all the time, well, I just tell
them they're the greatest studs on
earth 'cause that's what they want
to hear. That calms them down. The
ones who act turned off. What they
need is a lot of mothering and lot
and lots of patience.
(Linda laughs)
So what am I telling you two all
this. You look like you have great
husbands and great sex.
(pause)
Sorry to bother you.
Jane has listened with interest, while Frances is holding her
breath. AS Jane and Frances leave Jane Smiles at Linda who is
puzzled by her profuse AD LIB thank yous.
FADE OUT
EXT: SUNDAY MORNING - FRONT OF PHIL'S HOUSE
7.
Both men are dressed in jogging sweats and both appear to be
in good spirits.
RALPH
Did Frances say if anything
happened while they were shopping
yesterday?
PHIL
Not really, but after last night
it made me wonder if they went
together to some kind of class.
RALPH (VERY SLOWLY)
Maybe that's what happened.
FADE OUT
