Fellow SAMM Email Group Members,
It is a myth that SAMM should only be about scripted films in its club
projects.
First, some of our early most notable films were not narrowly scripted
works. I note especially the documentary film that made the American
River Parkway a reality.
Second, some of the most important films of today are documentaries.
For example, "An Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore, which helped him to
win a Nobel Peace Prize.
Third, it is insulting to people to think that they can only be sucked
in by scripts.
I am glad that in addition to our club contest project by Erick, we
also have on-line and You Tube videso by me, which are usually
ignored, and original works by Bosco, Herb, and Jeff.
I see no valid reason we can't have a variety of club film projects,
including documentaries that help people improve their health – by
inline skating, for example. Surprise! Surprise!
