Today Friday June 6, cast and crew traveled to the
Pulgas Water Temple near Woodside. Cast members were
West Ramsey as Jack and Kat Monda as the guardian of
the gate. Crew consisted of Janice Gutshall,
wardrobe, hair, production assistant; Herb Bennet,
camera, and myself as director.
We arrived at about 9:30 and found that a grounds crew
was busy cleaning the reflecting pool. While we
waited for them to finish Janice did Kat's hair and we
blocked our shots. Then we shot Scene 4 where Jack
tries to get into heaven. What with several
interruptions for noisy machinery, crows, and
airplanes and occasional tourists who wanted to
inspect the temple we finally finished filming around
1:00.
We then packed up and started home, stopping in San
Mateo for lunch at a nice Mexican restaurant. The
traffic was very congested on the way home and we
didn't get back to Davis until after 6:00.
Every one had a good time and I think we got some good
footage. I plan to visit Herb and capture it with my
laptop.
The quality of the acting is as good or better than
any project I have worked on. We are very fortunate to
have experienced actors like West and Kat willing to
work with us.
Only one major shoot remains until September and that
is the one in Volcano. That will be a long day
because we should be able to get all the scenes
involving the demon. I hope that I can find a day
when lots of members can come as we could use grips
and production assistants. My idea is to shoot our
scenes and then have dinner at the St. George in
Volcano.
After that there will only be the present day scenes
to be shot at Bob and Sue's and one FX shot of Jack
falling through the sky which I want to do at Access
Sacramento or any place where we can mount a camera to
shoot straight down.
Here are some stills from today's shoot. I will
forward stills from the footage when I get it
captured.
