Re: [SAMM] SAMM Meeting Notice May 2007

The "gazebo" is the Pulgas Water Temple near Woodside on the
peninsula. The underground picture is from the Sutter Gold Mine near
Sutter Creek on Highway 49. The company that gives tours of the mine
also runs several caves in the area. The pictures of the mine look
better for the purpose and the owners might be more willing to have
us work there since there are not natural formations to damage. The
best image that I saw was of the entrance to the Boyden Cavern which
has a big iron gate but it is in the middle of Kings Canyon National
Park which would be a long way to go. We would have to conceal or
remove the sign but with a suitable red light in the background this
could be made to look just like the gates of hell.

I also like the lava tubes in far northern part of the state. They
are pretty much self guided so there probably wouldn't be much hassle
but again it would be a long trip.

The stairway would be good for Jack's return to earth.

If we can get permission to use a commercial cave or mine and if we
can find cast an crew willing to travel and if we can't find suitable
locations closer to home I would like to shoot there.

One other idea I had was that maybe there is a nightclub in the area
with underworld decor, the sort of place that goths might go to.
Something like that might work and require less logistics.

There is also this structure in William Land Park near Fairy Tale
Town which might work in a pinch for heaven but I think the water
temple is much more majestic.
