Minutes of April 12, 07 meeting

We welcomed a new friend to SAMM, Shawn, who works for the City of Sac at ACCESS and sat in on our meeting ~ we hope he returns.  AND  a reminder to pay your dues to ACCESS; $20 for a full year. This qualifies us for the FREE room.

A brief discussion was held regarding whether or not to keep using SAMM Yahoo Group address for SAMM minutes and notices. Bernie, who is in charge of the Yahoo site, apologized for not forwarding the current meeting notice promptly.

Erick Lorenz updated what is happening with the club project film, The Myth of the Jack-O-Lantern. The characters include  parent(s) and two children; the main character Jack, who is lean and worn; a farmer, who may be played by Bosko; The Devil and his apprentice; Saint Peter and/or his assistant. Other characters may be needed.

Challenges include finding a thatched home that would exist in the medieval days when Jack and the Devil joust;  an outdoor pub; and a real or fake apple tree. So members keep your eyes open for such settings.

Also , and most important, SAMM is the host for the interclub contest which will take place in late September or early October of this year. Ideally, we would like to find a restaurant that would be suitable for showing movies like the now closed Neptune’s Table; ie a room that can be darkened and serve food. Also possible would be a small theater with tiered seats close to a nice restaurant. And which we could rent at a reasonable price.

Erick demonstrated on his lap top a character appears from a ring of smoke and then disappears. He will soon distribute his latest edit of the script to members. I think we can have a winner with our turnip carrying, luckless Jack and his fellow cast members.
