Re: [SAMM] yee-haw (with fingers crossed!)

Jeff, thanks for the update and good luck!  But why did you go to Windows 2000 Pro rather than all the way to W XP?  And I"m surprised you could get 2000. When talking w/guy at Circuit City, and my Grandson-in-law who works at Dell, they both said Microsoft isn't supporting any OS except Vista, and in fact, they've pulled all OS systems' except Vista off the shelves; that if I decided to buy a new computer, it would have Vista installed.  On the video website, there've been mixed comments re Vista; some love it, some hate it; guess it depends on their PC's. I do know that my printers (as of right now) would have to be replaced cause they don't have updated drivers for Vista.  I HATE Microsoft.  I used to defend them when they were going thru their monoply court battle, but no more. They don't seem to want to work with the industry.

Okay, off to nicer things;  hope to see you at the next meeting.

Hi SAMM clubbers

SAMM members are aware of my near continual $#@%!! comments on the
state of my computer's video editing capability. Which was almost 0.
I finally got fed up with Windows 98 and have faced the brave new world
of Windows 2000 Pro. I just finished re-editing my Mono hike video into
a smaller movie-- 25 minutes compared to 55! It worked well, two sudden
restarts when I first began, then fine.
If it continues to work well, I'll buy an Asus P5w motherboard and a
dual-core 2.13Ghz Intel chip to hasten the processing along, say 10x
faster than my current 1Ghz P3 can manage.....
Hope everyone else's equipment is working well, hope to see some video
at next meeting?

Cheers, Jeff
