Active Seniors Inline Skating: August 19, September 9, September 16   Message List

Fellow Sacramento AQmateur Movie Makers,

It was great to have Bosco and Duke filming the August 19, 2006
Beginning Inline Skating Discussion and Lesson. 48 seniors showed up!
I hope that they can continue filming.

We will have additional skating lessons at Trilogy Homes September 9
and September 16, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. I will teach beginning
skating on the 9th and Phil Lenihan will teach advanced skating on the
16th.

In this email I am forwarding emails from Pam and Phil about these
events. Soon I will send another email which is more official, and
has more details about the 9th and the 16th.

Hi Bernie and Phil,

Here's the latest update (now I'm calling it a newsletter.) I made
two Photo shows since so many folks had trouble receiving or opening
the photo files. These are links. You saw most of the pictures in
the first one but not how you are featured especially at the end.
Music has been added. I stuck to more classical type music just in
case...Folks love the pictures so they can send them to their children
and grandkids. And they are great for getting the word out. Inline
skating is the buzz around here now.

We already had one accident. She bought her gear and skates online
and got wrist guards with cushioned backs instead of hard plastic. I
was skating with her (slowly) and the next thing I know she was on the
ground. She fell more on her side on top of her hand. She called me
today and has two fractures near her thumb and wrist. But, she
reassured me she'll be back skating as soon as she can. They gave her
a plastic brace not a cast.

When we were practicing on Monday, stopping is still a challenge and I
didn't realize how many slight declines we have in the parking area,
and all of our driveways. Folks had a tendency to fling their arms
back when they picked up speed. Only one fall on Monday. The nice
thing is everyone is looking out for each other and reminding each
other to bend their knees. We even had neighbors come out to watch.

I am doing all I can to get folks to come to both lessons. They want
to but so many had vacations planned. I guess you would expect that
in a community like this one. But they want to come and still rave
about the two of you!

I never expected to stay so busy...but it is all worth it especially
when I see so many smiles and determined folks.
Pam

Pam... the program is looking good. Very good point about having the
lessons by the club house for visibility.

Encourage everybody to take all three classes. Even though we cover
mostly the same material you learn something new every time and it
forces you to practice. I will also be available to discuss skate
maintenance September 16th.

Burnie congratulations on the nice article in the paper. Boy, that
really helps skating.

Cheers! PHIL

Phil and Bernie,

Attached is the document that I sent out to our skaters. Please note
what I said about the group lessons that you will give. I was trying
to reach everyone, those who attended on the 19th and those who
didn't. I am really encouraging folks to attend both sessions to take
full of advantage of your expertise. I think I built in enough
flexibility for you to conduct the sessions as you see fit.

Phil, please note we have reserved an area for folks to practice as
you suggested. We will move it to a paved road where building is not
taking place as soon as we can sweep the area clean, and Joel arranges
with the builders to rope it off. Our current location is quite
visible, so I am hoping we will attract even more folks.

Skating has taken hold! Folks are still talking about how enjoyable
the 19th was and how young it made them feel. Some have already
purchased their skates. I was surprised by the number who are going
over tomorrow to purchase skates in a group. Joel will also purchase
rentals to have on hand for those who want to give it a try.

Pictures of the 19th have been distributed throughout SheaHomes and
Joel showed me where Shea is planning to construct a skating path (1/4
mile in circumference) around the new clubhouse they will be building.

I hope you are not tired of me thanking you for bringing inline
skating to Trilogy. We could not have pulled this off without you!

Please feel free to talk about your skating programs if you'd like
when you return. I have already posted all the websites that Phil has
sent and links to your websites. I can post other information you
email me if it is your pleasure.

Enjoy your weekend.
Pam

Thanks again to Bosco, Duke, and all of you great film makers.
