In our notice of the May meeting-13th at 7PM Nevada City Room-I mentioned agreeing on a project for the rest of the year. I am proposing that we remake "On Being Homeless." Specifically, I recommend that we recruit new actor\actresses from sacactors.com which is how we got the cast of "A Time to Run." Then reshoot the scenes involving Jeff and his then wife. We could also recruit younger actors to play the mover’s scenes and cast them as Starving/Desperate Students employees which would afford an opportunity for some more humor.
What we do have going for us are scenes of Tuffy, the horse. Not only in the back yard of Jeff’s parents but lots and lots of action pictures of him at a fence, running around a corral etc.etc Further, we have the scene of an actual house being moved which, according to Erick, should be shortened and an actor introduced into it to connect it directly to the plot.
In addition we have the Funk airplane circling the city with Herb Bennett and his camera getting some great views of Sacramento from the air.
If you remember one of the problems with "On Being Homeless" (it has been suggested that we find another title) was the sound. In many scenes we could barely hear the dialogue. That can be corrected with boom mikes or lapel mikes. If the scenes were shortened, without losing the plot points it would be a marked improvement over the original. If successful in the remake we would create a SAMM entry for the inter-club contest in September 2005,
I am sure many of you have other ideas for improving "On Being Homeless"and I hope we’ll be able to discuss this at the May meeting.
