My husband Matt and I just got back from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We
took a tour of Casa Kimberly, the Burton/Taylor home which is now a
bed and breakfast. For me, it was the highlight of the vacation. The
home is actually two houses connected by a bridge. One side was
basically Burton's where he would occasionally be locked up by Taylor
when he was particularly drunk or in a bad mood. Most of the
furnishings belonged to the Burtons - tables, chairs, headboards,
pool table, ping pong table, etc... The present owners (who live
there) have installed air conditioning in only two of the rooms - the
master bedroom and Burton's bedroom on the other side of the house.
I have to say I was in awe, but I tried to play it cool. Matt and I
have decided that next time we go to Puerto Vallarta, we'll stay at
Casa Kimberly for a night or two. It's kind of rough with little or
no air conditioning.
