I just watched this movie over the weekend and was quite impressed.
There were a number of powerful cultural and existential issues
including themes of redemption, freedom/limitation/destiny, and
violence/anger. Some parts were difficult to watch because of the
portrayals of violence, including domestic violence, but they did a
good job of demonstrating what it is like to be caught in this type of
situation.

I particularly liked how the warriors were presented as peaceful,
while Jake was violent because he was trapped in his own destiny that
he was unwilling to face. All the family members, in a sense, found
their redemption except Jake, who remained trapped.
