It seems our “sister” group has removed their banner for the CONSPIRACY ON THE POTA novel.

I wonder if I have missed something……

I'm very curious about the dinosaur, which just seems to come out of left field. Then again, we have seen other giant mutated creatures in POTA: Kygoor and the flying serpent, from the cartoon, and giant reptiles in the novel Colony. And Doug Moench, had he continued Terror on the Planet of the Apes, would have introduced Her Midgitsy, a giant gorilla trapped by humans.

Neil and I met up today and Neil has taken the Mangas home to copy.

First he is paying most attention to the older one (and we found some more weird shit in that too).

But yes of course eventually all will be shown.

The way things are going we might just email to people privately because we are a bit shocked (and even more disappointed) that there really only seems to be 5 or 6 people in this group who think it’s worth saying something about the manga.

I wouldn't bother. It takes a few minutes to get used to it at first,
but once you start, it becomes almost just as natural as reading it
the 'traditional' way. No big deal really. Kinda cool when you think
about it. Expand you horizons. Another 'skill' to add to your resume.
And once you master it, you'll be able to pick up any other Manga
without fear!

*** Yes, the state charged that "Dr. Zira and a corrupt surgeon named Galen experimented on this wounded animal (Taylor). Tampering with his brain and throat tissues to create a speaking monster." While they do suggest experimentation on Taylor, there's no reference to experiments on other humans, though it is highly likely they did. ***

A quick note about page-flipping. Although I've never been a fan of manga at
all, I have read some because there have been both Star Wars and Star Trek
mangas in the past (none of them very good...basically, I wasted my time). One
thing that I noticed with page-flipping is that any numbers in artwork end up
backwards--and if you re-letter in English, the word balloons are now in the
wrong order. So it could require some extra work if you do translate.

Any time. I practically drooled when Ed Haber told me what he had in
his possession. Unfortunately, I'm STILL no closer to figuring out
who drew it, as Sonny Trinidad's family is adamant that it wasn't
him, despite the evidence. If only the credits page had been among
them. I also hope we soon find the last page, so we can figure out
how many more pages are missing. Since issue #30 was supposed to be
a double-issue, and since the grim ending of the story (as revealed
in the opening panel) is nowhere near to happening in the 16 pages we
now know of, this might have been a rather long story, which would
mean there's a lot left to find.

>Posted by: "Neil Foster" ntfoster@... munkeyman63au
>Wow, well done Rich I'm downloading this right now, thanks.

Enjoy! The story, now that we have some context to it, seems like it
might have been one of the best of the Marvel run, so it's really a
shame that it was never published.

Maybe it wasn't just a straight translation though, they might have taken
liberties when dubbing the film into Japanese aswell. They could have
embellished the dialogue to suggest other stuff was happening. What is it they
say about Dr Galen during the trial scene, that he and Zira were performing
experiments or something?

Same here, when I read 'Japanese style' I find I have to think about what I'm doing which is distracting. I have a few mangas and have regularly 'read' them and still find myself thinking about how I'm reading them every time. I'm sure like Dario says it becomes easier but I would still prefer to read them 'English style' myself but whether just reversing the pages will work I'm not sure, we'll end up with the gorillas' bandoliers going the wrong way and stuff .That leaves a very time consuming alternative.

Hi, folks,

Some time back, I unearthed an unpublished page from Marvel, containing a chimp named Viraga. For a while, that was the only known page from that story, until last year, when three more pages surfaced.

Now, I've located six more, thanks to POTA fan Ed Haber, bringing the total known pages up to 10. Those pages are now available on Hunter's site, in the Marvel Ultimate Edition section. The new pages contain a title for the story, "Forbidden Zone Prime," and offer a much better idea of what it's about.

Unfortunately, we still don't have the page listing the artist, who remains a mystery, nor do we yet know how long the tale is. But I'm starting to have faith that the rest of the story may some day emerge!

Enjoy!

I wouldn't bother. It takes a few minutes to get used to it at first,
but once you start, it becomes almost just as natural as reading it

Well he only prints the different revisions of the last scene, but I think he might have mentioned something significant like that if it HAD appeared. Another thing is that at this point in the script revisions the apes are still flying around in helicopters, etc, so maybe it really is just a coincidence. I'm just wondering now if someone watching the movie first time around could make an assumption that the statue was somehow uncovered by the explosion. Probably not, I think...
