I've mentioned in the past how I've been in contact with one of the
corps-de-ballet from The Red Shoes. Sadly he's no longer with us, he
died in 2006, but his daughter has found some of his diaries that cover
the time they were making the film!
She's put them on the web at

fascinating reading to see what it seemed like from "the shop floor" of
the humble workers who had to do their bit - again and again - and try
to fit in with everyone else, often without really knowing what was
going on for much of the time.
Leonard Boucher and his wife, Helene Mladova, were both ballet dancers
with various companies and they were hired as members of the ballet
company that The Archers put together to make this amazing film.
Their daughter, Odette (no, she doesn't have a wicked sister called
Odile, I asked when we first started emailing) has quite a lot of other
information on the site as well including a few letters to Leonard from
Moira and a photo of quite a lot of the cast and crew at
