Description

This mailing list has been set up for the benefit of admirers of those masters of British Cinema, Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger AKA The Archers.

The intention is to discuss any news of when where their movies are to be seen at a cinema, on TV or released on video, DVD etc. and any related topics like books, events etc.

Because The Archers weren't just Powell and Pressburger themselves but the whole team (Alfred Junge, Jack Cardiff, Hein Heckroth, Freddie Young, Brian Easdale et al) and their regular stable of actors (Roger Livesey, Marius Goring, Deborah Kerr, Conrad Veidt, Esmond Knight, Pamela Brown etc) we welcome any news and gossip about any of them as well.

Have you seen any of their films?
Check the list of their most famous films at http://www.imdb.com/List?production-companies=The+Archers
What did you like (or dislike) about them?
Do you want to find out more about them?

If so, come and join this list.

Because of the nature of some of the films (such as Peeping Tom, Black Narcissus etc.) the recommended minimum age of members is 18, but we don't need the group to be categorised as adults only.

Re: Maureen Dowd on TRS
Yes, I also found it surprising for Dowd, who I generally find funny but often flippant. It's heady to think of all the people who'll now be talking about P &

Re: Maureen Dowd on TRS
I read Maureen Dowd's column yesterday and I enjoyed her descriptions of M. Shearer, the film, and Michael. What does anyone who has read the column think
