Traci,

Thank you so much! Yeah the Dracula in those pics is
my boyfriend, and the only time we really get to see
other is at conventions (he lives just outside of
Atlanta, and I live just outside of Boston) so we plan
some pretty elaborate duos. He is probably one of the
most amazing Draculas I've seen, and incidentally,
that's how we met.

As for the Mina gown, all of my detail shots and
progress pics are over yonder:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v289/mira_delune/Wilhemina%20Murray/
(Eurobeat King takes great pictures, but they didn't
really capture all the details in the gown).

If you have any questions about any of my stuff,
especially Anna, just shoot me over an email to
hs_jessica@.... I'll be happy to help you out.
^_^

Those descriptions are off of screenused.com...

Go to the main site, click the "wardrobe" tab. Check
off the little "sold" box and scroll down to the movie
title "Van Helsing." Then hit search and below you
will see all the costumes that the website has had
from Van Helsing. Anna's chase scene outfit is
absolutely breathtaking; it definitely made my list.

You did a great job!!!!!! The costumes look wonderful!!!
BRAVO!!!!!! Fantastic!!!

I am hoping to be Mina for A-Kon 2007. I am also hoping to make a
Marie Antoniette and Emma Frost. Maybe if I am lucky I can get a
Hannibal Carlotta costume done too. My friend Randi is making the
main Marie dress while I am doing the hoop skirt and the over skirt.
If that turns out good I will make the bustle for Mina. I just hope
it turns out as good as yours. Yours too Traci. I check out your
website a lot too. Hope you dont mind. You do a lot a great work.
Once again excellent job.

Jess!

It's you who did the Dracula couple! Absolutely gorgeous. :) I did Mina last
year myself and alas had no Dracula (My fiance goes to another event that is
always the same weekend as DragonCon) so pretty much no one knew who I was
suppsed to be, heh.

We have very similar taste in costumes; I plan/hope to do Anna next year, did
Jean Grey (Dark Phoenix; comic style) this year, did Mina last year and did Dawn
for years (and won the 2000 contest). ;)

That Spawn costume you have in your pics? Thats freakin crazy awesome.

I'd love to chat with you more offline about how you did your anna costume.
It's one of the best I have seen. :)

XxX,
Traci

P.S. Hi to everyone else! I'm new and hope to make the Anna costume next year.
lol!

HI,
I found descriptions for a lot of the costumes from Van helsing
being sold. Here they are for everyone.
During the late 19th century, famed monster hunter Dr. Gabriel Van
Helsing (Hugh Jackman) heads to Eastern Europe to battle with Count
Dracula (Richard Roxburgh), the Wolf Man (Will Kemp), and
Frankenstein's Monster (Shuler Hensley). By his side is the ravishing
Anna (Kate Beckinsale), a member of a family committed to ridding the
world of evil.

This costume was worn by Kate Beckinsale on screen as "Anna
Valerious". The costume includes the following various pieces which
were worn in various scenes either together or in combinations.
Blouse - This off white peasant type blouse has black embroidery and
was worn in various scenes.
Bustier - The brown leather bustier has a costume tag with "Kate
Beckinsale harness" written on it. It is in great condition and is
very detailed with hand applied metal beads and buckles.
Pants - The black pants have a costume tag with "Kate Beckinsale"
written on it, and are in very nice condition.
Necklace - Anna wears this necklace in every scene in the film, and
is an essential component to her costume.
Gloves - The brown suede gloves are in great screen used condition.
Bolero Jacket - The dark green velvet bolero jacket has a costume tag
with "Kate Beckinsale harness" written on it, and is in very good
condition.
Short Sleeve Coat - The brown short sleeve coat has a costume tag
with "Kate Beckinsale stunt" written on it. This was used by Kate
during some of the stunt scenes as her name is in it.
Boots - Unfortunately, the studio stored two right boots with the
custome in their archives. Both right boots are included and
have "Kate Beckinsale" written on the inside. Hopefully at some time,
two left boots will show up.
Long Overcoat - The long black coat has intricate enbroidery, and a
tag with "Anna" written on it. This jacket was used in several
scenes, and is in very good screen used condition.

Hello everyone! I just popped in to say that
Simplicity has a new jacket pattern that would work
perfectly for Anna's purple Jacket from Van Helsing.
It's pattern #4033 and view C would work best in my
opinion. It needs some slight sleeve alterations but
other than that it flares, has a mandarin collar and
even pockets! Just kidding, that isn't a factor but I
figured I'd let y'all know that there is a new
pattern for this fabulous jacket! Best of luck in your
costumeing endeavors!

i've been going for three years, and it's fantastic..
but exhausting, due to the heat.

be prepared, though..last year there were approximately 20,000 people
taking part in the con over Labour Day weekend. it's nearly impossible
to find a close hotel now, and the registration rates are sort of
steep, unless you pre-reg at the con or shortly thereafter.

it's worth it, though! bring a camera! if you like to check out the
awesome job people do on costumes of all sorts and all genres...well,
you'd be in heaven.

i'll be sporting the Evil Queen/Queen Mirror from Brothers Grimm this
year, on Friday..attempting to keep the heatstroke at bay. if i don't
die from heat exhaustion, i'll do the Fabrications contest on Friday
night.
say Hi if you see me! :D

I stumbled across this on ebay! It's hard to find pictures of this
costume, the usual are of her burgandy outfit, but this auction is for
her blue-ish "chase scene" costume and it has a beautiful view of the

I don't know if anyone noticed, but if you look closely in the pictures
and in the movie, you can see the bottom of a pair of bra cups (bust
supports or whatever you want to call them) on Verona's costume. It
would make sense due to the way the costume is layed over her bust. It
would also give some additional support for the actress, granted she
isn't as big as one of the others, but you can certainly see them!

Dragon*Con is always held in Atlanta, GA between three hotels
(Marriott Marquis, Hyatt Regency, and the Hilton). See
http://dragoncon.org/ for specific details. It is a super fun time. :-)

I'm just getting into the whole costuming thing, but where is the
Dragon Con going to be held? I've never been to one so I was just
curious. It's like going to Ren Faires, you don't know where they're
held until you look them up, but I'd have no idea where to even begin
looking for something like this. Thanks for the help.

Hey. I know there is next to no activity in this group, but I figured
I'd toss this up there. I was curious if anyone here is A.) Going to
Dragon*Con 2006 (this year) and B.) If anyone would be interested in
doing a Van Helsing group. I have an Anna Valerious costume (which I
intend to make various modifications and upgrades on) so I was namely
looking for a few other characters to possibly cosplay with.

Also, if anyone knows where else I might post to find some more Van
Helsing people, please let me know! Thanks! :-)

Hello all,
I'm new here and I recently became interested in making May's archery
Dress from Age of Innocence. It looks like a Natural form bustle gown
to me, but other than that, do any of you have any ideas on
constuction? Materials? Any thoughts/help would be much appreciated.

Just saw this at Jackman's Landing: There will be a live auction of movie
memorabilia on eBay on March 31 (that's a Friday), that will include Van
Helsing's costume from the Masquerade Ball. Starting bid will be a painful
$1,500.

Even if we can't afford to bid ourselves, at least we can enjoy the great pics!

Hi there! I scoured the internet looking for pix for a custom order
just a bit ago, and there's a huge lack of pictures on the web. I'd
suggest getting the DVD, it's only $10 on deep discount DVD. This
Rufus Sewell site has some:

I just finished the Dangerous Beauty inspired gown, it was so much
fun! http://belleofthebay.livejournal.com/

Hey,

FIDM doesn't have a website with images of the costumes currently on display,
do they? We can only see the displays when people take pictures of them for us,
correct?

I did a little web searching, but all I came up with was the FIDM school site
and a fan site for the costumes of 2004 or 2005. Just making sure I didn't miss
anything.

And is it possible for someone to explain to me--in non-embittered
words--exactly how Monster In Law made the display but Brothers Grimm was left
out? Were the costumes designed by a student of that school? I'm a little lost
on that point.

   Friendly Lurker,
   Mel.

Liv, I don't really need to join another costuming group, but I'd love to
keep a website bookmarked if you're going to put some pics up.

Same for anyone else! I love to see what people are working on... And the
few pics I've seen of the Dangerous Beauty costumes that were made,
floored me! :D

Hi!!
I just finished up my new group for Zorro costuming. It leans more
towards Elena's costumes, but discussions about the male characters
costumes are fine, because I would like to get some info to add to my
webpage:-) I haven't added any photo's yet or written an awesome
discription for the group, but its a starter :-)

   Because, if they are; I will take any Legend of Zorro pictures for my website;
www.geocities.com/threads_of_elena/ even male costumes, I want to start a few
pages on them :-)

You can email them to me at threads_of_elena@...

Hi there.

Welcome to the group! Having only attempted Anna costumes, I can't
offer you much advice on Dracula's brides, except that there's a lot
of silk and a lot of dyeing involved. The bride that wears green is
Verona, and she is the oldest of the brides. I haven't actually seen a
pattern that I think works, so your best bet is to do some drafting.
The impression I get from the brides' costumes is that there is a lot
of draping involved, but if you dye the fabric, you want to make sure
you get the grade correct.

Sketch it out, and definitely do a mock-up.
