I got my copy today.  I'll put up clips soon.

It was a cute movie, and I'd recommend it.  A shame the script wasn't
tighter, but the performances were very good.  It *is* frustrating to
see what a good actor Paul has become, then watch him in small parts.

Also--there's NO choreographer credit on this movie!  There is a
credit for the asst. to the choreographer, but that's all.  The style
certainly looks Paul-ish, but it's hard to say for sure.  Anyone know
who the choreographer was?

I made a little page to encourage people to join the eGroup--trying
to get a fanbase going.  On the page I put a great pic of Paul that
isn't on any of the other pages.  Kind of a prize for clicking the
obnoxious "ARE YOU A TRUE FAN?" button that is now all over the site.

I've seen it mentioned in a few articles from the same period.
Oh, and what about those 100 scripts?  Do you get the feeling
that if you knew WHICH 100, you'd want to hit him over the head

She had an aneurism.  The general consensus is that she never
recovered from the death of her son in a motorcycle accident a
year earlier.  She apparently wasn't too happy to see Paul ride
off the set on his bike.

I have an article I just received, and I will probably either
put bits of it up, or send it round.

one question, it's always mentioned in stories how tragic it is that the
actress who played scott's mother (i think pat thompson is the name) passed
away before seeing the film's success. anybody know what happened to her?

I got the movie "Kick" in the mail.  ($11.99 at videoflicks.com).

All I can say is I WISH PAUL WERE IN IT MORE.  I actually liked the
film.  Its a good Saturday afternoon feature.  Paul does some dancing
AND he has a beard.  It threw me but he looks good in it.  I think
that they wanted him to look older.  Still perfer him clean-shaven
though.

I had read some reviews of the movie and I personally did not find
the dancing over the top as some critics said.  It was also nice to
have an Australian film where I could also understand what they were
saying.

My favorite character was the best friend of the lead character.  He
had some very funny moments helping his buddy get back in forth from
rehearsal of the ballet.

Hopefully the movie will be available for rental for all you Paul
fans.

Info on The Finder from the kind folks at Beyond Films:

"The film has yet to be launched by Beyond in the international
market so there are no distributors attached as yet. We will be
launching at the AFM (American Film Market) in February 2000."

These are mags with Paul pics that you ordered?  Don't suppose
you have a scanner?  ;)  It's so hard (and spendy) to get new
pics.  You don't even wanna know what I've spent on what's
already there.

I've been very protective of my sources because I need to keep
adding to the site--of course by default I guess I'm sharing
with everyone.  :)  Thanks for this source--I will definitely
get in touch!  This is great, and something I definitely wasn't
aware of.

When I first saw Strictly Ballroom earlier this year, I scoured the
Internet to find as much information as possible about the movie and
Paul Mercurio.

Since then I have been racking my brain to remember what I've found.

There is a site:

They sell old magazines, posters and so on.  I ordered an old
Cinescape and TV Week.  Chris and his father run the business and I
received excellent service from them.

You can email him (via the website) and he will tell you what he has
to offer and how much the cost would be.

The Cinescape has fantastic pictures.

I've been corresponding with Sue at Ronin Films about obtaining a
copy of "Life's Burning Desire" for the site.  She went out of her
way to get a price and have NTSC format copies made.  They've only
ordered a few in this US/Canadian format.  It is spendy--the
individual copy I'm getting will put me back $65, which includes

Looks like Paul really is pitching that beer show he's been

The National Library of Australia did an article on Paul Mercurio as
part of their dance series in March 2000.  I contacted them this
summer and they sent me two copies.  It has a full page picture of
one of ACE's posters and an interview with him.

If you feel comfortable, you can provide me with your address and I
will send you one (Merry Christmas) or here is a link to the NLA and
you may be able to request one.

Also, a book not available in the US, A Passion for Dance, has a
great picture of him in "Some Rooms" and an informative article.  It
also includes articles on other aussie dancer/choreographers
including Graeme Murphy, who runs the Sydney Dance Company.

up.  Wanna be my lieutenant?  I'm serious--I can think of a
couple things I could use a hand with; all link-digging.  Let
me know.

I'm aware of Bar Blu, but have been unsure where to put it.
Soon I'll have enough material to do an "other" section for
dance, and I think that will be the place.  I'm expecting a
program from "Jesus Christ, Superstar" in the mail any day
now.  He choreographed an Australian production in '93--I'm
very excited to be getting this info.  :)  The sheer *volume*
of Paul's work never ceases to amaze--the more I dig, the more
I find!

for Red Ribbon Blues, and a better version of one of the other pics

You're the second person to assume I'm from Australia--and
again, I'll take it as a compliment!  I'm from Portland,
Oregon.  If I were from Australia, I'd definitely be a Sydney
girl.

Considering what I normally charge for my web design services,
I think I'm set for Paul's birthday for about the next 20
years.  ;)  If you really want to try his favorite, you'll have
to brew yourself.  I wonder if I could find his recipes
online...bet I could.  But are you ready for a Vegemite Ale?

Sorry about WebTV--there are probably some things on the site
you can't see.  I try to design for compatability, but one can
only go so far, and WebTV is very limited.  I'd recommend one
of the internet appliances that are available now.  They're
simple, less expensive than a computer, and less limiting than
WebTV.  Nonetheless, WebTV is a good way to start--I have many
friends that used WebTV as an internet starter kit.

Thanks for the update on Paul.  I will request an autographed picture

I have WebTV as you know.  I'm not sure if ya'll have it where you are
but It is somewhat limited in it's ability to do some things I've
discovered.    Has something to do with JAVA whatever that is. ( I'm
somewhat computer illiterate but will probably have to get one.)   For
example, if a web page is too long or contains too much information I'm
unable to accesses it. Or, with the eGroup, I cannot get into the "Chat"
section, again something to do with JAVA which this system isn't capable
of.  I'll have to learn more about it and invest in a computer system.
It's annoying not to be able to access things I want to get into.

Just an FYI--I have been contacted by Paul.  He says the site
is "fantastic" and will be providing a few updates soon.  The Double
Bay address listed on his resume and the News section of the site is
no longer accurate, and he'll be sending along a new management
address for letters.
