While strolling through sunny Westminster on a Saturday afternoon
there are many things you'd expect to come across: camera-heavy
tourists, bag-laden shoppers and a huge film crew. Er, a huge film
crew? Well that's exactly who we found in the area last Saturday and
imagine our surprise when we found out we'd stumbled on the set of
SKA Films new comedy outing Layer Cake.
Penned by Guy Ritchie, this film marks the directorial debut of
producer Michael Vaughn and with character names such as XXXX,
Morty, Tiptoes and Clarkie, the movie looks set to be another
classic slice of London gangster life. The project also sees Lock,
Stock's Dexter Fletcher returning to the fold so we asked him what
we could expect from Layer Cake when it's released next year? "It
deals with different factions in the underbelly of London," he told
us coyly.
Fletcher plays a "conman" in the movie and is set to "turn up in
various guises" throughout the course of proceedings and he also
revealed that SKA veteran Jason Flemyng is also set to appear,
promising "something extraordinary" from the LXG star.
And how does the Press Gang legend think Mr. Vaughn is faring with
his behind-the-camera responsibilities?
"He's relishing it and doing a great, great job," he told us,
adding ""[Matthew's] always had a burning ambition to be a director
in his own right."
