Douglas Trumbull is one of the innovators featured in the new exhibition, Feigenbaum Hall of Innovation, at the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
The exhibit opens Saturday, March 29 and is ongoing. Mr. Trumbull is represented with a didactic panel, and is also featured in an interview in the introductory video shown continuously, and on one of the short films on the interactive, "Overcoming Obstacles."
From a press release from the Berkshire Museum: "The Feigenbaum Hall of Innovation is a permanent, 3,000-square-foot
exhibition space that will feature an ever-changing exploration of
innovations and innovators that have enhanced people's lives around the
world. The focus is on innovations that originated in Berkshire County
and have had worldwide influence. In keeping with the Berkshire Museum's approach of "colliding" art,
history, and science, the Feigenbaum Hall of Innovation explores
innovations in science, technology, business, politics, culture, and
the arts."
The Feigenbaum Hall of Innovation will explore innovation, defined as "the unprecedented use or application of an idea, material, or technology, the result of which influences or enhances people's lives," through six thematic areas: Success, Overcoming Obstacles, Unexpected Outcomes, The Innovation Process, Inspiration, and Motivation. In order to be included in the Feigenbaum Hall of Innovation, the innovator must have a demonstrable connection to the Berkshires (Berkshire County and the adjacent Massachusetts hill towns) and the innovation process must have taken place in or be closely linked to the Berkshires.
The Berkshire Museum is located at 39 South Street on Route 7 in Downtown Pittsfield, Massachusetts 01201. The galleries are open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays noon to 5 p.m. For more information, contact the Berkshire Museum at (413) 443-7171, ext. 10, or visit berkshiremuseum.org.
