It has been RUMORED, but I highly doubt it. What ever happened to Lucas
casting "Unknowns" in his film (except Ewan, Liam, Portman, and Lloyd, of
course!) I doubt that Leo DiCrapio would even make a good older Anakin. He's
still too hyped up on that Titanic crap...

we were lucky, I was friends with son of the manager of one theatre, and it
played three showings nightly at the drive in all summer  ;-). I estimate I
only paid about fifteen -eighteen times to see it, and the price back then
was around four bucks. Canadian. *that's about eightyfive cents US  <jk>*

not true. He doesn't like to use big names.... (then why the hell did he go
with Liam and Ewan?  :-) ) It's more likely to be another British actor, so
they can avoid all the imperial entanglements while shooting in England.

if they HURRY UP, they can use Nathan Hamill! He's 22 years old now, just
the perfect age. And he already HAS the blond hair/blue eyes Skywalker
family resemblence  ;-)

oh cool! this was exactly the sort of thing I hoped we'd be getting into!
At least a few for now anyway, from only having seen it once, and in the
company of a three year old who kept saying "why is he doing that?" , "what
did he say?', "who is that?"

first, the obvious:  Anakin (who's gonna be ten years older in the next
one, hence recast) will either have done his apprenticing or be working at
it still (I go with the latter). Something is gonna tear him between Jedi
and not Jedi/ Dark side and good side.

Darth Sidious will become more powerful, seeing as he's moving up from
Senator to Emperor......

here's some speculation I have to throw around:

Palpatine is Anakin's father (remember Vader in TESB to Luke: "The force is
strong in our family") . Of course, Shmi doesn't want to divulge this,
hence the curious chemistry between her and QuiGon in PM (at least, that's
what I thought).

  Anakin has promised his mom he's gonna come back to free her. He fathers
Luke and Leia. Mom? is Padme/Amidala. *and* something I thought would
really throw Anakin for a loop, he's involved in a love triangle. I'm
thinking he leaves behind/is forced to leave behind a pregnant Padme to go
free his mother. Once back on Tatooine, he's forced to choose between Dark
and Light side. Maybe in the course of freeing the slaves, he ends up
finding his own mother dead, or whatever. (does he become Darth Vader here
or in #3? I understand James Earl Jones is signed for ep #3, but I didn't
hear whether he's doing #2 or not. He could always be speechless, or not
asthmatic yet anyway, in #2. Whatever.)... as a result of Anakin's choices,
ObiWan is forced to go back to Naboo (or wherever Padme is now) . *He* is
the other one in the love triangle. But he knows it would never work out,
the twins once born, must be hidden from Vader, and ObiWan can't stay with
Padme to do that. He spirits them off, leaving her behind as well.

I bought a couple of books yesterday,interestingly enough, both mention
that Ewan's ObiWan character will be much more central (he and the yet
uncast older version of Anakin) in ep #2. I'm willing to bet Liam returns
too, as Alec Guinness did (and QuiGon in the same way Guinness' ObiWan
did). He'll be the one to help ObiWan make the same crucial decisions Alec
Guinness' ObiWan did Luke in TESB).


But you can bet that one scene is gonna end up being cut out of it.. and
that's the scene where ObiWan sweeps down to Earth, grabs me and takes me
away with him......

oh well, I can dream.....

Phantom Menace :)

Silent Love

Sache was seriously depressed. She'd been a handmaiden for Queen Amidala of
Naboo for four and a half years and most of that time she'd been in love with
Obi-Wan Kenobi...but she had no nerve whatsoever to admit it to him; but she
knew she should do it soon, because he and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker were
both coming back to visit.
  She slipped out of bed and got dressed in her usual outfit, then headed for the
queen's chambers. On her way there she bumped into one of her best friends for
the past three and a half years.
  "Jar Jar, what are you doing here this early?" Sache asked with a smile that
didn't quite reach her eyes.
  Jar Jar Binks looked at Sache closely and said, "Yousa all right?" Sache shook
her head and said softly, "He's coming back...after four years he's coming
back."
  "Yousa never told him, huh?" Jar Jar asked, patting his best friend's shoulder.
Sache looked up at the Gungan she'd become friends with and shook her head.
"No," she said softly. "And to be perfectly honest with you, I don't think I
ever will be able to."
  Jar Jar walked along with Sache as she got closer to the Queen's room as he
said, "Yousa has to tell him when yousa see him next."
  "I do?" the young human said, looking at her friend oddly. "Why?"
  "Because he likes you too," Jar Jar said as he walked off. "Mesa expecting you
to tell him when you see him."
  Sache sighed and let herself into Amidala's room, her mind drifting back to
what the Gungan had said. A while later, while she was getting the Queen's dress
out she decided to ask. "Your Highness, can I ask you something?"
  "What is it?" Amidala asked. Sache took a deep breath and said, "Did Obi-Wan
Kenobi ever tell you whether he liked me or not?"
  "No," the Queen replied. "Why do you ask?" Sache sighed and helped Amidala get
her dress on as she explained, "Jar Jar said that he does. Do you think Obi-Wan
told Jar Jar and not you?"
  "Maybe," the Queen replied as Sache sat her down to fix her hair. "He's right
about one thing, however."
  Sache felt her throat go dry as she said, "I have to tell him how I feel about
him?"
  "Yes...that's the only way you can get over this," Amidala said as Sache
finished up. Her handmaiden sighed and said, "I guess you do have a point, Your
Highness...when is his ship coming in?"
  Amidala looked out the window and said, "Now...we have to get to the hangar to
meet him."
  Sache swallowed and followed the Queen out of the room and down to the hangar.

  Obi-Wan Kenobi wasn't expecting the reaction he got when he walked off the ship
fifteen minutes later. He glanced at Sache and saw her get really nervous. *I
wonder what that's all about....* he wondered, then started talking to the
Queen, but his eyes kept drifting towards Sache, who was trying not to be too
conspicuous, which was kind of hard in those bright red uniforms.
  Finally, the discussions ended and Queen Amidala said to Obi-Wan, Sache needs
to talk to you, I'll see to it that she..." She was interrupted by a thud.
Turning around she saw that Sache had fainted. "All right then," Amidala said,
"Maybe it can wait."
  Obi-Wan nodded and said, "I'll keep an eye on her until she wakes up."

  Sache awoke an hour later to somebody saying something to her. It took her a
while to figure it out, but when she finally placed the voice, she got really
scared.
  "Shh..it's all right, Sache," Obi-Wan said quietly, brushing her dark hair away
from her face. "Are you all right?"
  "Y..Yes..." Sache said nervously. She managed to sit up and said, "Obi-Wan
there's something I need to tell you..."
  "I know," the Jedi said, taking her hand. "Jar Jar was right about me."
  "You mean...?" Sache was shocked. Obi-Wan nodded and did something Sache had
been waiting four years for.
  He kissed her. Sache felt herself melt as she returned it. Finally she slowly,
if rather reluctantly, pulled away and whispered, "I love you."
  Obi-Wan smiled and said, "I love you too."

Anyone see that funny skit thing on E! Entertainment television? They had
action figures that were *really* funny. I forgot some of the names.
Anywho...OBI-WAN IS HOT!!! Sorry, just thought I'd spill that out. Anyone
else think so? I hope so, since this is the OB1 mailing list. I heard that
Obi's character will grow more in the second film. I thought poor Ewan
McGregor didn't have enough screen time (I didn't think Maul had much screen
time either!) so Lucas has to make up for that by giving him lots more screen
time. That's all I've got to say for today. Toodles!
