uploaded the article from Filmfare October 2001 issue. The page also has links
to her favourite films and songs!

Mumtaz appears in an article in the October 15,
2001, issue of Femina in the "Legend" section. It
narrates her liveliness and her grit to fight adverse
situations and come out to be a winner. Indeed, Mumtaz is a
real legend of the Hindi Films and proves that she is
'the' best.
Hi Prashant

For the movies photo albums you will have to go back to the
main site. The post-films albums are right here in the club.

Thanks for
your comments. Regards
As 'Photoloft' has now become a paid site, they
deleted my photo albums, linked to the main site. Though
I have uploaded the photos to photo club of Yahoo,
I am unable to create links (in fact the sites do
not somehow load auatomatically) and hence, have
indicated the names of the url address to be copied and
pasted.

I have also added more photographs, including
photos from Upasana (some of her photos are simply out
of this world), beside from Khilona which I has
added a few days back. There are many more photos from
various films which I could not identify. There are
additional post-film period photos as well.

Happy
viewing!
With the help of Harsh, I have added a link to a page of Screen having a few
more photos of Mumtaz.

I do not know why the remaining guys and gaals are
silent spectators!

Happy viewing!

Hi all. I have been meaning to ask. Does anyone
have any suggestions as to what movies of Mumtaz I
should add to my slowly growing Hindi movie collection?
My mom is the true fan of Mumtaz, she thinks that
she is the most beautiful actress she has ever seen.
Even though in Laos, there were no subtitles, my
mother loved watching her movies when she was younger. I
have to admit, there aren't a lot of new Hindi
actresses these days who have that sparkle that Mumtaz
has.

Any suggestions would be well appreciated. :-) Thanks
so much!
About six years ago I went to India on a work
assignment and was introduced to Indian movies. I was
advised by one of my local co-workers to rent or watch
any movie on television by an actress named Mumtaz.

The first movie I saw with her was "Aap ki Kasam". I
was very impressed by this actress; although I did
not understand the dialog I keep watching the movie
because Mumtaz was very different from any person I had
seen on screen before.

I was so taken by the
movie, I decided then and there to sign-up for Hindi
lession, just so that I can understand what they were
saying, since in India there was no English
subtitles.

About five years have passed; I have seen over sixty of
her films. I can almost understand the dialog. I am
now reading all the books I can get my hands on about
Indian culture.

I have learnt a great deal over
the last five years about India and the customs and
cultures. I am so fascinated by the country and people;
that one day I will have to make a trip to India and
visit the temples and learn as much as I can about this
ancient country.

This thirst for knowledge about
an ancient country resulted because of an actress in
a movie; I never thought that a person so far away
can have such an impact on my life. It is strange,
however very scary.

Chantal
HI Everybody!

Everybody seems to be silent
observers! No messages, no comments! I think we should have
been discussing Mumtaz! In fact I too was
silent.

Anyway, I have uploaded photographs of her birthday,
celebrated on July 31, 2001, at 'Olive' in Mumbai, India,
after her recovery from cancer.

Happy viewing.
I was only 18 when I first came to India in 1972
as an engineering student in Bangalore.

I
guess I was truly romantic at that time with an
emotionally charged persinality that I easily found Mumtaz to
become the dearest to me among all Inidan actresses of
her time ! I saw all her movies and probably more
than once for some of the movies although I had
language problems to fully undersand and enjoy these
moveis. I particularly remember movies like Khilona, Aap
Ke Kasam, Roop Tera Mastana, Apna Desh, Dushamn, ...
etc. I particularly liked her movies with Rajesh
Khanna who I tought made a very good match with her
talent and style.

Shortly after the news of her
marriage, I left India in 1973 and that was the first and
last time I have been to India since then. I thought
this was a 'childish' teenage fascination that would
fade away with time, but I found I was wrong, and
after all these years, she remained to be a sweet
memory in the hack of my mind.

Today, more than
28 years have passed, I have grown older, busier,
and very stable in my professional and personal life,
but I still have this wild fascination towards this
unforgettable character and sweet meomory that still lives
within me after all these years !

It was a
coincidence that few months ago I was searching the Internet
for Mumtaz news, when I came across Mr. Arun Gulas
and his nice web site on geocities dedicated to her.
That was like the re-birth of past memories which I
once thought were dead for ever. Today Iam pleased to
find a forum to express my feelings and thoughts about
this charming character and the way it influenced me
since 1972 !

Till my next append to this forum,
I hope - one day - these words make their way to
the addressee and pay back a little more tribute at
this time !
Iam grateful my name is mentioned, but I do
believe that thanks is really due to Mr. Arun Gulas for
walking the talk and taking the first steps in what we
hope would be a dear and warm corner for expressing
ourselves towards this unforgettable character in the Hind
Film history.

Being a bit an outsider to this
culture, please accept my apologies for any unintentional
mistakes I may fall in in future appends.

After
all, I see this forum as a way to express ourselves
and express the good part of our wisdom and
philosophy in life!

Thanks for the
opportunity

Mohammed Thiab
