A few days back, an RJ of one of the radio channel was narrating an incident
about Mumtaz. In the movie Dharkan, the director had envisaged a song sequence,
where Mumtaz, along with Sanjay Khan, had to 'promote' the use of condoms which
were in those days sponsored by the government. Had it been for some other
actress, she would have refused, but Mumtaz being bold, readily agreed to do the
scene.

I think such bold attitude of Mumtaz, in fact, worked against her, as all other
contemporary so-called-great-actress maintained their coyness about such issues,
because in those days it was a taboo to talk openly about sex. Mumtaz was the
only 'heroine' of her times, who was bold enough to dress provocatively too,
without any demur. But such attitude definitely resulted in denial of her
inclusion in the category of 'great' heroines.

There was a small little comment in Delhi Times by Fardeen Khan a couple of
weeks back. He was talking about his weight problem and he said that his mother
in law (Mumtaz) was in town, and that she is one of the best cooks he has ever
