This is very disconcerting. Many people are not even aware of the fact that
Night Gallery was originally aired as a 60 minute program. When it was later
syndicated some imbeciles got together and decided to MASSACRE the entire series
by editing each story down to acceptable 30 minute formats. This included the
re-editing of stories as well as in some cases the complete exorcising of
many of the smaller vignette type stories that the show became known for. And
any
syndicated episodes that include Gary Collins are from a completely different
series he starred in called The Sixth Sense which was used to flesh out the
total syndication package requiring Rod Serling to come back into a studio and
tape the usual Gallery opening for these episodes. The ONLY way I would
consider investing in the DVD release of this series is if Universal made the
wise
decision to use newly remastered prints using the original one hour episode
format. Hopefully Universal will realize this is the wish of the possible buyers
and wise up before it is too late.
