Question's been raised, in a coupla places, what good is TV Vote, anyway?
http://richlabonte.net/tvvote/index.html
Actually, not an unreasonable question...
In short, probably not gonna be a decidin' factor in any studio's collective
mind.
As I see it, TV Vote is a rallying point to keep Browncoats engaged and active,
an ongoing
goal set to focus on... And, like all games, it can be a lot of fun!
That said, I don't doubt that Joss and others are aware of it; it's been goin'
on too long for
them not to have caught wind of it.
So, no, not likely to get us a Big Damn Sequel. More likely to keep the blood
flowin' in a
portion of our fandom. That leads to the other benefit of TV Vote: It gets us
exposure
among the OTHER fandoms. Believe it or not, there are a lotta folks out there
who don't
know about Firefly.
A good example is all the voters who pull for the old westerns; Bonanza,
Gunsmoke,
Laramie... They have HUGE numbers of fans on that poll, and, many have commented
positively about Firefly, after having watched it outta curiosity, 'cause we
ripped past their
shows in the poll, to take #1.
So, cross-pollination, and, not just with the Bonanzais, but, a lotta folks
votin.' Even got a
lot of the Dark Shadows fans, down in the Nominations Poll, interested, just by
lending 'em
a helping hand with their own campaign. That means, when the new Dark Shadows
movie,
with Johnny Depp, comes out next year, we'll have a lotta Vampire Flans in the
ranks,
ready to share their other passion with all the start-up DS fans the movie
generates.

Could use some extra votes startin' tomorrow; Friday's votes goin' into
Saturday's scores,
and, Saturday's votes goin' into Sunday's scores, are where we're at most risk
of breakin'
our 1k+ votes/day streak. So, if you find yourself with an idle moment at your
keyboard,
you might take all of a minute and punch up a vote for Firefly.
Stay shiny!
