Re: MSM's London stage debut !

Hi Claudia and thanks for the news.

So Mary Stu' comes back to London (some may know she was at school in
one of the smarter parts of London while her family was involved with
the London run of the stage show "Best Little Whorehouse..")

I was up in the centre of town earlier this week so I checked out The
Old Vic box office (200 yards from Waterloo railway and underground
stations) who confirmed that tickets are now on sale for both
previews and the run. Some details I picked up may be of interest
(from memory so don't be put off in case my facts are not perfect):

The Old Vic Box Office telephone: from UK 0870 060 6628 (from
overseas dial to get an international line then continue: 44 870 060
6628). Box office and phone line opening hours were unclear.

Tickets for the opening night are not for sale and there is also a
gala night (I think it's either the Saturday evening show before or
after the Tuesday 8th February 2005 opening night) when tickets are
not available to the public.

The show runs 6 evenings a week (curtain 19.30hrs, from memory no
show on Sundays) with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday.

Standard ticket prices are the same for previews and run shows and
vary from £15 to £40 depending on where in the audience you sit. A
moderate booking fee applies to all ticket purchases unless bought in
person at The Old Vic.

The first two rows of the stalls (almost under the stage footlights
so may have a restricte view, are reserved for concessions, students
and under 25's: ID required to qualify) are priced (I think) at £12
or £15, with the remainder of the stalls seats at £40. Remember
though that being English the theatre has a most eccentric seat
numbering system. Row Q is only about 10 rows from the stage!

It is important to note that I was told that the first 9 rows of the
(just £40?) stalls tickets have been 'block booked' (by one of the
London ticket agencies?) for at least an early part of the run,
are 'reserved for the producer' or already sold and so are not
available through the theatre box office (but they should be able to
point you in the right direction for this other agency). The ticket
clerk was a little confusing on this point so check for yourselves.

There are one or two rear stalls seats with slightly restricted views
(behind slim 6 inch metal posts) priced at £15.

Upstairs seats (middle or upper levels) are mostly £32.50, £25 or £20
but again there are some restricted view seats that are cheaper.

Most London theatres have recently been part of a scheme where all
Monday night tickets are priced £10 but I don't think The Old Vic is
participating any more.

SO THERE IS FINALLY A REASON FOR ALL YOU OUT THERE TO GO TO LONDON!
Meanwhile I'm going to see if I can track down a copy of this new US
play and find out what that is all about. Any ideas who published it?

Take care all
