I haven't seen any of her work so I really can't say.

There's this from the Louise Brooks Society...
Next year marks the Louise Brooks centennial. And next year, fans
should see the release of not only one, but probably two and possibly
three (did anyone say four?) new books on Louise Brooks! I can't say
much more, as I really don't know much more. I have only heard rumors,
and rumors of rumors.... Watch the LBS blog at
www.livejournal.com/users/louisebrooks/ for further details and news.
This week, Beggars of Life will be screened as part of the Harbor
County "Sounds of Silents Film Festival." The William Wellman directed
film will be shown outside, on August 12th at 9:00 pm, in Dewey Canyon
Park in Three Oaks, Michigan. (Three Oaks is located in Southwest part
of the Wolverine state.) Admission is $10.00. Blue Dahlia, a
Kalamazoo-based musical group, will be performing their original score
for the film. For more info see www.vickerstheatre.com/page6.html And
on Friday, September 23, It's the Old Army Game will be screened as
part of the The 13th Annual Buster Keaton Celebration in Iola, Kansas.
See http://69.150.100.5/keaton/prog05.htm for details.

Overland Stage Raiders to be broadcast this December!
Louise Brooks' last film, Overland Stage Raiders (1938), will be
broadcast in theÊUnited StatesÊon the STARZ Westerns cable
station on December 8th at 1:15 pm, and again on December
21st atÊ4:30 pm and December 28th atÊ4:00 am. ItÊwill alsoÊbe
shown onÊthe MOVIEplex cable station on December 8th at 2:15
pm. Consult your local listing for further deatils.
Overland Stage Raiders (1938) is not a great film, but is worth
seeing because Louise Brooks is featured in it.ÊThough she
then sported a brushed-back 1930's hairstyle (and not her
trademark bob), she still looked quite lovely at age 31. The film
isÊapproximately 55 minutes long, and is considered part of the
"Three Mesquiteers" series. Brooks co-stars along with John
Wayne, Ray CorriganÊand MaxÊTerhune.
Interestingly, because it starred John Wayne (before he made it
big in the movies), this otherwise b-grade picture has
occassionally beenÊshown theatrically in the United States in the
decades since its release. These screenings tool place in the
1940's and 1950's. The film was also shown on television in the
1970's. I wonder how many viewers then recognized the once
and future Lulu?
I have Beggers of Life, The Show Off, Pandora's Box & Diary of a
Lost Girl. Will transfer all for to a DVD and throw in a copy of E!'s
Hollywood Mysteries & Scandals - Louise Brooks if it fits.
Check out the "hall of shame" this fellow has on his page of
Betamax VCRs he owns...
http://uk.geocities.com/dasimperator/My_Betamax_Page.html
At least 4 people have tried to "sell" his SL-2000 VCR. Others
just crib his descriptions almost verbatim.

one on findagrave.com of all places!
Hi
Thought you might be interested in a yahoo group. It's devoted to
the actress who I feel is the closest we'll get to Ms. Brooks this
century...
Wonderful Talented Beautiful actress Camilla Rutherford:

Check out the publicity stills from a short she starred in where she
does her best Anna Karina!!!
"Acting is always what I wanted to do. Being able to act is like
winning the lottery the first time. If Quentin Tarantino walked into
a pub and said 'Do you want to be an actor?' everyone would say yes.
It's not like wanting to be an architect or a doctor."

We've got it!

Hello, my name is Julio and I'm new in the group. I love Louise
Brooks and her style. By the way, if anyone knows about a picture
where Brooks is sitting in a barbershop, while an orchesta is
playing, please let me know. I think that the picture belongs to the
film A social celebrity. Thanks
Oops! Should be 12:35 - 12:50. Sorry!

Showing on UK Channel Four, Thursday 11 December, 11:35 - 11:50.
Once again, it's time for the Icons three to leave town - are
you there Rich and Ruth?
Well after 25 years Grapevine Video finally shut it's doors. I hope
everyone was able to get one or two (or the whole lot) of Lousie
Brooks movies.
Makes me wonder what he's gonna do with all the master
copies...

Duh - 5 December!
Louise comes to Nottingham again! At the Broadway, Thursday 5
November with a "brand new score by Cipher...mixing live flute, sax
and bass with dark soundscapes and hypnotic layers of looped
instrumental atmospheres as well as 1920s sounds."
I've just bought it today. A new restoration from Kino in conjunction
with Transit Films/Murnau Stiftung. Not too much to speak of in terms
of special features, but there is an early talking comedy in which we
can actually hear her speaking voice. Does anyone know of a possible
DVD of Pandora's Box?
Has anyone else noticed that the movies that John Wayne made with
Louise Brooks is never shown on television? On the movie channels
all his movies from his whole career is shown except the two he made
with Louise Brooks or am I in the dark here? thanks, Perry
For those of you living in the NYC area, Diary of a Lost Girl will be
playing this Saturday, August 10 at 9 pm (price = $9.50) at the:
Walter Reade Theater
Lincoln Center & W. 65th St. (Above Alice Tully Hall)
(212)875-5600
Subway: 1, 2 to 66th St -- Lincoln Ctr.
I will do my best to be there (have to get there from Boston and
traffic on 95 has been a nightmare recently! any Brooksie fans in
Boston?) as it will be only the second Brooks film I've seen on the
big screen.
