Well, this whole 'where are the straps???' thing was really bugging me,
so I went and watched that scene again, frame-by-frame, and found all
the straps! Go me! <G>
After I found the rest of the straps, I went online to try to find pics
to show where they are, but could only find one in addition to the one I
already posted a link to. *sigh* Anyways, here's what I found out about
the strap-and-cloak relationship. (That just didn't come out right, did
it? <G>)
The first strap, the same one I had found before, goes from the bottom
of the quiver on Legolas' left side, to the knife-sheath, then goes
through a slit in his cloak and comes around his chest from under his
left arm (his pov). ( See
http://www.geocities.com/rabid_plotbunny/legolas1.jpg for a pic, with
arrow pointing out the strap.)
The second strap goes from a strap about an inch wide wrapped around the
top of his quiver, then down through a slit in his cloak (the same
height as the first strap), and under his right arm (still his pov).
This is only seen for perhaps five frames in my tape (as I don't have a
dvd player yet, and most of Legolas moves offscreen after that. *sigh*).
I haven't been able to find screencaps of this online, but it's seen in
the same scene as the two pics I *do* have. Look for it when Legolas
turns away from the river and starts up the
bank toward Aragorn. Hit pause immediately as he begins to walk away
from the river and advance frame-by-frame. You'll see his back and the
strap is really easy to spot. (I *could* draw a hand-drawing of the
straps' positioning, if you'd like, then scan it in and post it on my
site... Let me know!)
The third strap goes from the top of the quiver, to the knife-sheath,
and then into his cloak through a slit just barely below his hood. From
there it goes over his left shoulder (yet again his pov) and joins up
with the other straps on his chest. I found a screencap that shows this
strap. I darkened the picture quite a bit, upped the contrast, and drew
in an arrow to the left of the strap, pointing towards it. The colors
blend a bit at the knife-sheath, as a little fold of the cloat goes
partly over its edge, but you can see the strap's shadow really well,
and *that* heads straight into the cloak. (See
http://www.geocities.com/rabid_plotbunny/legolas3.jpg )
Well, that's all I can think of to write about those straps right now.
Hope that helps.

*still unsuccessfully looking for Elrond's Blue-Grey Talking-to-Gandalf
Robe, though the capelet-back is the only part I'm not so sure of now.
Argh! <G> What does that thing *do* in the back??*
