STORY LINE: In the 1890s, photographers LOUIS and AUGUST LUMIERE work to perfect
the first film production and projection system, known as Le Cinematographe.
NOTE: "La Premiere" is a true story of the world-changing adventures of the
Lumiere brothers, set in France in the 1890s. One of ten finalists for the
Doorpost Film Project, the film will also be submitted to all the major
festivals, Sundance, Toronto, etc.
This short film is largely set in France. Actors playing Frenchmen will be
required to speak French throughout.
SEEKING:
ANTOINE LUMIERE: Male, 50s to 60s, The father of Louis and Auguste, and very
much the patriarch of the clan, Antoine is an outgoing, opinionated man, who
encourages his dejected sons to outdo Edison's invention by literally "thinking
outside the box."..LEAD (5) MUST SPEAK FRENCH. GOOD SINGING VOICE A PLUS.
HENRY: A cute boy of 9-16 years old (note new age), he is a young apprentice at
the Lumiere factory... (8) MUST SPEAK FRENCH and BE ABLE TO RIDE A BIKE
THOMAS EDISON: 40s to 50s, he is a famous American inventor. Must look like a
middle-aged Thomas Edison... (3) SPEAKS ENGLISH ONLY
