I thought the show was really good too, and of course, I'm thrilled to
see Kim again.
I must admit, I was not happy AT ALL when I read the spoilers about
Diane falling off the wagon. Been there, done that, and she didn't
even drink when Bobby died for Pete's sake!
Amanda (on the newsgroup, which makes me cringe with it's large
anti-Diane/Kim population) made a good point about all of this that
made me reconsider a bit my stance on Diane & the bottle. She
mentioned that Diane really has nothing now - she lost the love of her
life, doesn't appear to have any good friends since Jill left, and
never was really close with anyone else. We know she's not close with
her family (and where, BTW, did her mother's breast cancer come
from??), and is probably pretty darn lonely. Now she's faced with a
potentially life threatening illness, and has no one to share her
thoughts and fears with. Looking at it that way, I guess I can allow
her a drink or two ;-)
>>I felt so bad for Diane going through all that alone (since Dr. C
>>must be out of the picture, damnit!!)
A big damnit from me on that one too!! He is (or was apparently) such
a sweet man, and they were so cute together. I was perfectly happy
thinking of the two of them riding off into the sunset together.
*Sigh* There's no reason he couldn't have been a part of this
storyline; everything in last night's show could have been the same,
except Diane tells Andy she hasn't told Dr. C anything yet, because
she doesn't know what to say, doesn't want him to get stressed out,
whatever. Then Andy could have sent her home with a promise to tell
him everything. Or the doc could just be out of town at some doctor
conference. Anything! Just bring him back!
> I thought Connie's reaction was very spot-on with Andy at the end --
> she felt slighted by Tony at work and then by Andy not telling her
> the truth about Diane
That part didn't really ring true to me, I thought she was over
reacting a bit and sounded jealous of Diane. She should know better!
This made me think back to season 5(?) when Diane had the miscarriage
and Andy was just diagnosed with his cancer. Bobby knew about both of
those things, had promised each one that he wouldn't tell anyone, and
he didn't. Both Andy and Diane knew Bobby was keeping something from
them, but didn't press the issue and didn't get all bent out of shape
about it. Oh well. A minor issue in the scope of an otherwise
excellent show.
Can't wait until next week!
-Lisa - going back into lurker mode :-)
