TRANSAMERICA reviewers weren't overwhelmed by the film but they
largely thought it was enjoyable. Felicity Huffman does an excellent
acting job in this film about a man about to change sex but is stopped
midstream to help his illegitimate son with legal troubles. This is a
heart warming, and QUITE FUNNY film, but its indie-ness tends to make
it a bit too earnest.
If you thought Terrence Malick's The Thin Red Line dragged on, his new
film THE NEW WORLD will most likely BORE YOU GREATLY. It is the slow
paced story of Pocahontas with the myth largely intact. This film
doesn't have much to offer other than nice imagery of 1608 Jamestown.
UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION is more of the same, and at some points WORSE.
Considered a fair bit worse than the original, most reviewers have
said it adds nothing at all new to the story or genera.
Reviewers who like sophisticated highbrow comedy enjoyed MRS.
HENDERSON PRESENTS. Those who look for a movie to draw them in and
make them laugh found it HARD TO LIKE this film about a WWII burlesque
show in London.
