Steven Spielberg's MUNICH is a quality film about the Israel and
Palestinian covert operations spawned by the hostage massacre at the
1972 Olympic games. It does not let up in its gory depiction of each
side's indulgence in vengeance. It is historically quite accurate, and
has a Saving Private Ryan feel. IT WILL PROBABLY APPEAL MOST TO THOSE
WHO ENJOY SOCIAL COMMENTARY. Most reviewers liked it. The ones who
didn't, disliked it because they found the humanitarian messages
overbearing.
For adults interested in a romantic comedy CASANOVA may be of interest
if you want MINDLESS PLOT AND BANTER in exchange for stylish settings.
This is not a thinking adults film, nor do most reviewers expect you
to enjoy this film unless you are willing to cut it a good amount of
slack.
FUN WITH DICK AND JANE is so bad Jim Carry's characteristic enthusiasm
can't even make the film worth watching. MOST REVIEWERS PANNED IT
calling it a mishmash of ideas trying to be a satire of Enron, but
ends up being poor slapstick.
CAPOTE will be leaving theaters in the next week or two. Philip
Seymour Hoffman will most likely be nominated for BEST ACTOR for his
performance. Great for anyone with any interest at all about the life
of one the great modern writers. A few reviewers have called this the
best film of the year.
