The best movie this weekend is KING KONG. The reviews have been
PHENOMENAL. The directing is Oscar quality, and the effects are as
good as the trailers. Most reviewers consider this to be better than
the original. No part of the $200 million was misspent making this
film. The story is moving, the action is exceptional, and there are
many memorable moments. IDEAL FOR THE BIG SCREEN.
The deeply emotional BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN breaks new ground with
homosexuality in mainstream media. It is a romance more than an affair
involving two cowboys. The majority of reviewers were moved, and loved
this movie. The screenplay was CONSTRUCTED BY THREE PULITZER PRIZE
WINNING WRITERS including Larry McMurtry. The details of the 1963
Midwest are very accurate. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal give Oscar
worthy performances.
Not an easy film to watch, PARADISE NOW is a window into the life of
two friends from Palestine who become suicide bombers. Most reviewers
applauded the quality in which it DEPICTS THE HUMANITY OF THIS STORY.
A very well made and reviewed movie, it was filmed in Palestine with
English subtitles. This is probably the last week it will be in local
theaters.
THE FAMILY STONE is a MEDIOCRE film about a dysfunctional Connecticut
family at Christmas. Half of reviewers thought it was average. The
other half hated it.
THE PRODUCERS is considered by almost every reviewer to be A VERY POOR
REMAKE of the classic film.
